Museum Apartment with large terrace

Comfortable apartment in a good location near Kalvin Ter, a transport hub.

The drain on the terrace smelt bad. The property managers were unwilling or unable to do anything about it.

De locatie is top. In een rustige straat en toch overal dichtbij. Sfeervol ingericht en met een leuk binnenplaatsje. Goede inventaris en zelfs kussens voor op de tuinset aanwezig.

Nagyon csendes környéken található a szállás, jól megközelíthető. Tömegközlekedéssel érkeztünk, de a közelben parkolási lehetőség is van, mi arra nem akartunk költeni. Ajánlom mindenkinek.

A zuhanyfüggönnyel eleve averzióim vannak, de úgy láttam, itt ezt másképp nem lehet megoldani, wc ülőke mindenképp cserére szorul, más kifogás nem volt.

The location of the property is excellent. It’s central and an easy walk to many of Budapest attractions + easy 5 min walk from the metro and many bus/tram/ trolleybus stops. The hosts are very quick to respond to an email with a query and provide logistical help - eg. initial help with the door code, providing a portable fan before we arrived to help with the 39C weather. Not so quick to respond or deal with practical problems (blocked drain in bathroom, beeping censors in apt, etc).

Our main issue was with the way the apartment was advertised - ‘with a large terrace’ implying this as an additional bonus and one of the main features of the listing. In reality the apartment has an inclosed courtyard which - despite having GREAT potential - was unkempt (broken glass, dirty towel, unswept & dusty) and unpleasantly stinky due to maybe a blocked drain or other such issue. When we raised it with our host they informed us that they were not responsible for the terrace, rather the building was. Mind you theirs is the only apartment with direct access to it and they clearly use the terrace/courtyard to advertise their listing. We were willing to also think that the unprecedented heatwave had something to do with the state of the terrace but unfortunately it seemed to have been noted in multiple previous reviews. Not cool. The terrace was utterly unusable during our stay due to the stench. Also I am aware that these days many booking,com or Airbnb properties keep bathroom or kitchen essentials provided for guests to minimum these days. But being greeted by hardly any toilet paper (1/4 roll if I am generous) after a long travel felt wrong. Annoyingly, this issue was also mentioned in previous reviews. So - my friend and I had an awesome time in Budapest, in a central apartment which has a lot of potential and needs some TLC.
