Villa Maroby Garden & Parking - Lecce Selection

Breakfast was very good, and the location was excellent. It was close enough to walk into Lecce, and it was also convenient for driving to the nearby beaches. We did both and had a wonderful time. One morning, a man came to water the lawn and surprised us by delivering a bag of fresh pastries to the villa. They were absolutely delicious and a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated. The home itself has a spacious, open floor plan with very large rooms, making it feel comfortable and inviting. We also appreciated the motorized window blinds, which could be fully closed to block out the heat and sunlight or partially opened to let in natural light while still providing shade. The washing machine worked very well, although it took us a little time to figure out since it operates quite differently from the machines we're used to in the United States. Once we understood how to use it, it was a great amenity. During our flight from the United States to Italy, three of our suitcases were damaged beyond repair and had to be replaced. We asked the host how to dispose of the damaged luggage and were advised to take it to a recycling center. Unfortunately, we later learned that the recycling center would only accept large items from residents with a local tax code, so that wasn't an option for us as visitors. Fortunately, we spoke with the neighbor, who very kindly offered to dispose of the suitcases for us. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture, and we were very grateful for his kindness.

The bed was a bit firmer than we prefer, so it wasn't as comfortable for us, but we recognize that mattress firmness is a matter of personal preference. We had expected to park our car in the garage to keep it out of the sun, but the garage was locked. This ultimately wasn't a significant issue, as we were still able to park our vehicle inside the property's motorized gate and within the enclosed walls, so we felt it was secure and did not have concerns about vandalism or damage.

It was an entire home in a beautiful garden setting. It had everything we could have possibly needed including a washing machine. My friends and I each had a queen bed and bathroom to ourselves. It was very close to old town of Lecce by car but situated in a very quiet area. We appreciated being able to park our hire car inside the gated driveway.

Very spacious, comfortable and cool house. Good bathrooms and excellent showers. Magnificent garden, looked after by the lovely owner. Plenty of shady spots. Close to the motorway, so that’s in the background, but didn’t really bother us. Very secure parking.

It was a bit more than walking distance to Lecce, but there’s a bus at the end of the road and a big free car park about halfway into town, with a 20-minute walk to get there. The kitchen is not very well equipped - a dishwasher and microwave would be good additions, as would wine glasses, tall tumblers and some more implements (spatula/fish slice - other than the very large BBQ one - wooden spoon, egg beater.
