Cherry, who seemed to run the hotel, was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located very centrally in Middlesbrough. It was clean at an ok level.
Really weird place, I dont recommend it.
The important points:
Firstly,it might be closed for a while. It got shut down on my second day there, because it didn't pass the fire risk inspection. Cherry was very helpful in booking me a room at a place across the street- I was quite thankful I got out of there early really.
Uncomfortable beds and very superficial cleaning (found dried food bits on the carpet under the bed.
It's all painted black and only had green and blue led lights in yhe stairwell and hallway, so this might make it uncomfortable for some people.
Breakfast is below minimal. I had to tell them the (only) milk had expired.
This might be bad luck, but there were weird guests when I visited, I was wary when having to go from my room to the bathroom.
It generally had a creepy vibe, I didn't feel comfortable and wouldn't recommend it.
Less important point:
I have stayed in many hostels, that I loved, so I'm not saying the following in a conservative way: This place has odd decor, that adds to the creepiness. They've put stickers around, to give it a hostel vibe (which instantly makes it uncool), only it's random band and similar stickers- so it looks like it's been decorated by a 12 year old that just discovered music but doesnt have any personality.

I didn't have any breakfast as a package however the area was nice. I was there for a uni trip & it was located right at the heart of where the uni is :)
The one thing i'd say is that at one point, the paper towels in the men's toilet ran out. That's about it honestly. Everything else was great, the bed's were super comfy too.

Cherry the manager is a great host and was very helpful and went over and above what she needed to do to help me.
The location is very good for a wide variety of restaurants and bars .
The hotel was very clean and the shared area
Is very nice .
The pub next door is busy but my room was very quiet .
I prefer a check in with a person rather by a contactless procedure but it worked well and the manager was very helpful showing me how do it .

Central location, good sized and comfortable room, good communication from host, good value, within easy walking distance of city centre and near to many eating and drinking options.
Window in bedroom not properly sealed.
Notwithstanding the name, it’s definitely a guest house rather than a hotel.

I do not like anything about the hotel.
Black painting and scary stickers on the wall.
Group of people, who appeared to be drunks, making loud noise at mid night inside the hotel.
I do not feel safe there with my family.
Everything is wrong with the hotel.

Property looked okay at the website since its just for a night but getting there it was just so bad the heating in the room was circulating around, the female toilet is all the way downstairs and my room was upstairs which made my stay much more uncomfortable the tables were a big dusty and the room just wasnt the place to get a good night rest, the light wasnt even bright enough and room colour which was black just made it all worse had to go to another hotel after wasting money there and it was much better and cheaper

It was quirky in a good way it was looked after and cared for and was not a standard chain hotel
The host was lovely she was clearly passionate about getting it right and did her best to make us feel welcome
Hard to pick a fault with it if I was been super analytical I guess the wifi was iffy at times but to be fair was not a huge problem

The wonderful host and owner Alfie, was friendly, very accommodating, and has created an amazing space for an unbelievable low price. The place is efficiently organised, and appears to be an expression of love and creativity from the owner. I hear it will soon be passing into new hands. I hope they treat it with as much love and care that Alfie has obviously put in. Alfie, you will be missed. ❤️
The mens' toilets and shower room are on the first floor, and the womens' on the ground floor, so as a woman on the first floor, I needed to go down steps to use my allocated toilet and shower, but actually, if you're desperate for the loo, I think there wouldn't an issue using the other one. Also, Alfie told me that normally single women are given in the ground floor room, but it wasn't free when I booked. Not a big issue.

The location was perfect for access to public transport, and the hotel was also situated next door to a Wetherspoons pub, which serves food all day, until 11pm.
The owner was very welcoming and allowed us to store our luggage for the day after we had checked out. The accommodation was very clean throughout, and the whole experience proved to be a quiet and comfortable stay. Would definitely book again!
Nothing not to like.
