Alphotel Biel-Kinzig - Access by Cable Car only!

Beautiful and clean rooms New renovated, in modern & classic Style

Breakfast I would loved to have before 8 am

Fantastic stay at this hotel for one night, whilst walking the Via Alpina. Rather than staying in Altdorf, we hiked to the lower cable car station (which is just off the Via Alpina Route) and took the cable car up for the night. The hotel is right next to the upper cable car station, with lovely views of the mountains. It is a small hotel, recently renovated. We received a very warm welcome and the rooms were small but beautifully presented. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant that night - simple but tasty fare (Swiss traditional food, burgers etc). There was a buffet breakfast in the morning which was small but good.

We had had a wonderful stay at the Alphotel Biel-Kinzig. The hotel is renovated, the rooms are very clean with a wonderful view. The beds are comfortable and the showers are great (not always the case when you’re in the Alps!). There are great hiking routes with panoramic views and small restaurants along the way. Truly a hidden gem with very few tourists.

Everything was fantastic! Don’t expect gourmet food at the restaurant, the menu is basic but the food is good. The breakfast buffet is also simple. But that is normal in the Alps and belongs to the charm!

Beautiful view. Remote location which is very nice but there is nothing up there. So be sure to eat/ etc before you go up the cable car. Check cable car schedule and plan ahead to get down the mountain. Take cash. Breakfast starts at 8, no earlier!
