Location
Cost of room £275, worth £40 (£100 due to increased foot traffic given concert location). Insects, bugs & dirt throughout the room. Music played in the pub courtyard at an extremely high level until 1am, no earplugs provided and pretty certain it should’ve stopped at 11pm. My mum & I are very easy going, no frills kinda people and where it’s great to see local business thrive with demand in a non city location the inflation doesn’t match the experience.

no car parking, loud music, outdated bathroom furniture, no kettle, dust everywhere from decorator, price was very expensive for what we got

Excellent location in the town 5 mins walk from the castle.
Welcoming bar staff.
Good atmosphere.
The room had been updated but needed a few finishing touches - the curtain pole and curtains fell down late at night so we were awake at daybreak.
Booked breakfast for 8am to be greeted by the landlady in her dressing gown just setting up so had to wait. Food ok, limited choice.
Would say its a pub with rooms, not a hotel.

Central location. All the basics were there. Room reasonably clean.
'Ladies night' meant banging music until 12.30 am, plus my male partner not allowed in the bar after 8pm. Bathroom suite needs refreshing - lino needs replacing & water pressure low on shower. No-one available to give key back to in the morning & no alternative instructions. Entrance stairs in process of being decorated so quite dusty & pots of paint etc left out on landing. Not good value for money.

Had to clean the toilet before I used it. It was dirty all around the top and back rim

Breakfast was Excellent.
We were in a room close to the beer garden area which had loud music playing until 1.00am

Close to everything, towels and robes a bonus
The communal areas like hallways etc could all do with a good hoover and clean. You're above a pub so it's noisy from music, but it didn't bother us as we were awake anyway. No kettle just an old coffee pod machine so we couldn't make tea

Good location, everything is in walking distance. Has a proper family-run feel about it which is lovely. Breakfast was really good, simple but so tasty and everything had obviously been made to order and not sat around in trays. The guy who served us breakfast was lovely. Bed was comfy and I slept well once the crowd from the courtyard dispersed around 11.
Lacking a bit of finesse in places. Trying to check in at the bar while loud music is blaring made it quite difficult to hear what the staff were saying. Not many people around in the morning to let us know how to check out as bar was shut. Cutlery and crockery in the breakfast room wasn’t 100% clean. The mirror in our bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly it had water spots all over it. Was a warm night so a desk fan would’ve been a nice touch!

The lovely welcome as soon as we arrived. The room was nice and clean, though the shower lacked pressure.
Breakfast was lovely and well cooked and the location right in there of the town was perfect.
The shower lacked pressure and the bathroom a little dated, but for the price you can't complain

The hotel is an historic building and is rather unprepossessing at first sight but the bedrooms and bathrooms are OK. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the hot water hot. The full English breakfast was delicious.
The hot water tap opened clockwise. (Aaaagh. :-) ) Apart from that it was fine!
