We had a lovely stay at Guesthouse Imperator! It started with a very warm welcome to Croatia by Krešimir who picked us up at Split Airport (pre-booked with Marina) and then once parked up in Spilt, lead us on foot to the guesthouse (helping us with our luggage too). We had the first floor room which had a lovely aspect with two windows either side of the room. It was very clean, very cosy and felt really secure. I’m so glad we had this room and didn’t have to contend with more than just the one flight of external stairs. We couldn’t get the TV to work, but Krešimir had offered for us to call him, should we need any help with anything. However, not having the TV on was no big deal as we were out most of the day. We stayed four nights and we were brought a change of towels during this time, which was greatly appreciated. The shower was lovely and hot with a good pressure. The location is right in the heart of the old town with so many restaurants, eateries, and bars close by… with literally two just outside our room. We had no issue with noise from them. The only issue we had with noise was just one night when an incredibly inconsiderate neighbouring guest came in at around 2am shouting and making noises (must have been drunk) as they passed our room and went upstairs to theirs… then proceeded to make more noise for several minutes. This is no fault of the guesthouse but I’ve just mentioned this to make future guests think about the possibility of disturbing and waking others

Overall a pleasant stay. Communication swift, friendly and accommodating. Room was clean, kitchenette well equipped. Tea/coffee supply was sparse but would probably have been replenished had we asked. The old town location is convenient but also prone to wafts of food odours from the restaurants in the yards to the left and right, busy preparations/service traffic in the morning, lively restaurants in the evening. For anyone considering a stay, ask whether the odour trap in the bathroom has been installed. During our stay the bathroom had a bit of a sewage stench that even the open window could not remedy. Again had we asked it may have been fixed during our stay. We didn’t but mentioned it to the host on departure. So hoping for a well smelling bathroom for future guests.

Room was lovely. Comfy bed. Clean. Great location. Mostly quiet, we had a wedding below us in the restaurant one night and that was a bit loud but for the most part the apartment was pretty quiet. I’d stay here again.

Clean room which was beautiful - within the old city - very close to Diocletian's Palace (maybe 3 minute walk?) and the waterfront. About a 15 minute walk from the main bus stop. The hosts were lovely! Easy check-in.

My sister and I really enjoyed our stay! The room was super cozy and the bathroom is spacious. We loved being in the middle of the Old City in Split—you are walking distance from all the shops, restaurants, and monuments, and a bus ride away from some beautiful local beaches! Our host, Thomas, was very kind, helpful and quickly responsive throughout our entire time there. We highly recommend this place!!

When I arrived, I received everything via text with these instructions so if nothing to do, they provided me the code. I walked into the room, drop my bags and went to town. It’s a little hard to locate between all the buildings. If you’re Google maps says you’re within 30 feet and you can’t find it look up. There are some stepsand that’s where you will find the door.

Excellent in all respects. Thomas even had umbrellas when we arrived to guide us to accommodation as we were met with pouring rain. Very very clean with everything we needed and perfect location. Restaurants so close also and the one downstairs perfect. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Bed so comfy. Decent size room, basic amenities but fine. Wow, Thomas is amazing. He met us at taxi which he also organised for us in request, took us to the room and gave us recommendations without us even having to ask. He was a star. The hotel could not be in a better location, HIGHLY recommend. It is not in a too busy or loud street either which is a huge bonus!

Thomas was amazing! He met us at the ferry port and helped pull one of our suitcases the 10 minutes to the room. The hotel is in a perfect location in Old Town with everything within a short walk away. We would definitely stay there again!

The unit was very clean and perfect size for a couples trip to Croatia. The location was at the heart of Old Town and allowed to have many food and sightseeing options close by. The owner were very responsive, kind, and accommodating to our needs. 12/10 would recommend to anyone interested in visiting Split!

The building itself was unique. Very old house. To reach the front door you had to climb several steps. I was at the 3rd floor, so inside climbing 3 more flights of stairs to then enter a very spacious clean room beneath the roof. The small kitchen had everything you need if you want to prepare a meal. Very clean bathroom , with roomy shower and rain oder normal shower possibility. I always sleep with ear plugs, so no problem for me. But to both sides there are restaurants. Which makes it very noisy till later in the evening, if you are an early sleeper. The restaurant Kuzina on one side I tried. Excellent food! And very convenient. You walk out the door and you are on the terras of the restaurant. Shortest walk ever for me to a restaurant. The guesthouse is in the middle of the old town and everything is in walking distance. I had a great time. Little disadvantage, when you are in a wheelchair, you cannot stay at this guesthouse. The is no lift. Also for people who have problems walking stairs, I cannot recommend it. Otherwise, I immediately would stay there again 😃

The old part of Split is definitely a walking town. I contacted my host Marina the day before we arrived and her son Thomas met us the property. What a friendly and knowledgable young man! Our room was beautiful clean, with a small fridge, coffee, pot and kettle. The beds are extremely comfortable, bathroom was spotless and you couldn’t be the location! Staying right outside of Diocletian’s palace was perfect! We walked everywhere, and thoroughly enjoyed a walking tour of the city. When you come from Canada, it’s awesome to experience hundreds of year old culture and traditions. And the Croatian food is absolutely delicious, so is the wine! Our host was excellent with information on transportation back to the airport as well.

Our experience at Imperator was excellent in all respects. Marina was great at meeting our taxi and taking us to the room, and Thomas was also great in helping with our luggage to the next hotel. Position was unbeatable, central in the Old Town, and convenient to numerous bars and restaurants (& gelato bars). We were warned about restaurant noise from the nearby dining but never found it a problem. Overall we can highly recommend Guesthouse Imperator.

Would definitely rebook this place if I came back to Split again. The check-in and check-out were easy. The location is unbeatable. The bed was comfy and the room and the shower were quite spacious. Great value for money too. AC works great, was actually able to keep it on during the night without getting sick. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great, but I suppose that is the case in most buildings in the Old Town section.

This is right in the heart of town, minutes from everything. That has its plusses and minuses. It is great for convenience, but it tended to be noisy at night. The streets are all very narrow, so I was awakened several times by people walking down the street in the middle of the night yelling to their friends. That is probably true of any place in the center of town, though. Also, part of that was my fault, because I failed to notice there was an A/C unit, so I kept the windows opened. (Turned out it wasn't working anyway, but if I had noticed in time, my host probably would have rectified that.) My other concern was that it was very hard to find. That was aggravated by the fact that there was a large concert taking place in the main plaza very near the location. GPS led me in circles around the town, trying to navigate with heavy luggage and large crowds. I finally contacted the owner, Marina, who was very kind and asked me to take a picture of my location. She came out to find me and guide me the final block or two. She was also very helpful with other questions that I had. The room was well equipped and the bed very comfortable, and I loved the rustic look of the original stone walls. Once I had gotten there, I loved that I could step out of my room, walk a block or two and watch a free concert or get a bite to eat. So, with those caveats about possible noise, I would recommend Guesthouse Imperator and its host, Marina.

Incredible location in the old city of Split, with an amazing restaurant in the courtyard - try the veal stew with macaroni. Sounds plain but is sublime. Thomas, our host, whom we never met in person, was helpful and attentive. He gave us directions for parking and when we had a small issue with the a/c he saw to it right away. Accommodation was a large, airy, well-lit bedroom. A little noisy but that’s to be expected in a quarter full of revelers. Highest recommendation!
