Mary cooked a delicious full English Breakfast for us. She was very accomadating and welcoming. We arrived at 8am, 8 hours before check in time and she held our luggage for us while we went to explore. Bathgate is a cute town and there are plenty of restaurants and shops walking distance from The Gables. The train station is an easy walk. We took the train into downtown Edinburgh.
The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, water nice and hot, and Wi-Fi is included. Mary provided bottled water, tea and coffee service in the room and snacks. 10/10 great stay.

Very comfortable stay and amazing breakfast. We stayed here just one night to get to and from Edinburgh airport. The X18 bus comes right to the property (1hr ride) for about £5 or you can take a cab (25min) for about £40. We were pleased to see there were plenty of fast food places around that are open until 11pm or midnight - not all small towns in Scotland are like this. Only downside is we could not find an email address with which to contact the hosts during our travels, and since we don't have UK numbers we had to rely on courtesy phones to get in touch with them regarding check-in. Would highly recommend The Gables and their lovely hosts.
