Likes : Good value accommodation. Good location for cycling/walking plus easy access to Buckie and Fochabers.
Large free carpark, friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Ability to store e-bikes inside, safely overnight.
Dislikes : Hotel needs a lot of TLC much of which is relatively minor but continues unattended to, for years - eg general room decoration, very noisy door closers (hard to close then they slam), light bulb missing in en-suite, heavily overgrown trees at rear of property that rob rooms of light plus TV that had limited reception/untidy extension cables.
Would like the hotel to offer smaller evening bar meals for smaller appetites.
Also, outside the control of the hotel is the excessive speed and noise of traffic on the A98.
Overall, a very charming, comfortable, enjoyable and easy going place to stay that doesn't need a major refurbishment (which would inevitably mean substantial increases in prices to pay for the investment) just some basic attention to maintenance details to lift it to a better standard.

I did a last minute booking, and it was a good choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. The bed was softer than I am used to, but I slept well. The shower took a couple of minutes to get hot, but once it did, it was nice. I had supper there, and it was very good, as was the made-to-order breakfast. There is a nice lounge area to sit and have a drink. Spey Beach was a short drive away, and was a nice “pebble” beach walk.
