Althoff St. James's Hotel & Club London

In my opinion, the staff is what made this a five star hotel. When a member at the front desk takes the time to physically show us a quick short cut to his favorite restaurant, that is beyond good hospitality! Second, We appreciated having a medium sized closet in our room, which is not always present in European hotels. Also, the two night stands on either side of our bed had three deep drawers. We were able to unpack all of our clothes, which made us feel like we weren't living out of a suitcase. We stayed five nights. Our bed was perfect for us and the room was very quiet. Two complementary bottles of water were provided by the cleaning staff everyday. Third, the location of the hotel is a small side street off St. James. which makes it a quiet place to come back to after a busy day of visiting the major attractions of London. It is just two blocks from Piccadilly. It was an easy walk for us to Buckingham Palace and the Green Park metro.

Superb breakfast and charming room. Great to have a balcony. Special thanks to the young doorman who chased after our taxi with a bag we'd left behind.

Everything was very clean and the staff was attentive. The rooms were very small.

Hotel is in Victorian building, which was renovated and upgraded to modern-day amenities, including personal Wi-Fi in a room, digital infotainment monitor and excellent air conditioning. Staff is going extra mile to please you, open to accommodate any of your requests. Breakfast is good quality but on expensive side, which is expected in a 5-star hotel. Location is great: walking distance to major attractions and 5-minutes walk to the "Tube". Stay is expensive but you get what you pay for.
