Arenas Beach Hotel

They advertise the rooms have hot water/shower and the bungalows have private balconies. There was no hot water, the hot water tap wasn't even working, it was blocked off!! When I asked them to come have a look at it and repair it, they just shrugged their shoulders and said, "No hot water, it's not working." Each bungalow houses 4 rooms, so the balconies are shared, not private. When your room is in the front, this means other guests will be sitting in front of your room. Other guests will use the balcony to dry their swimmers and towels and for access to their rooms, which also means it's noisy at times. The balcony light stays on all night, the curtains only block out some of the light. The place is outdated, umbrellas at the beach that only have the frame but the actual fabric is gone..??! Rooms are spacious but basic and clean-ish.. Breakfast is included but there's only 4 choices and portions are small. 2 cups of coffee are included, they'll tell you you have to pay if you want a third one. Again, definitely no value for money. The overall service is quite poor, and staff isn't very helpful, nor overly friendly. They were sitting in front of the kitchen eating while guests were waiting to be served. They just didn't seem to care. I know you can't expect luxury on the Corn Islands, but this place is way too overpriced for what you get. I'd suggest staying elsewhere and take a taxi to come enjoy the beach here, as it is one of the nicer ones on the island.
