City Walls Hostel

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location was in a nice, quiet area of the old town. I was in a six person mixed dorm and myself and one other girl got to be in a more enclosed area behind a wall that separated two bunks from the other four. They provide you with a free lock (with security deposit) to be able to lock up your individual closet which is nice.

Although the location was in a nice area, getting to it being on the other side of the town was quite rough. I followed the hostels instructions for the easiest route but there were still loads of stairs to get up in order to reach the hostel. Overall Dubrovnik has stairs everywhere, but for convenience I may have stayed lower and more central in the area next time. Also, I haven't stayed in a hostel where the bunks do not have curtains or outlets within each bed, so I would've appreciated that sense of privacy more that comes with the curtains.

The air conditioning was an absolute lifesaver! The rooms were clean and spacious with large lockers (byo padlock). Towels were provided.

There was only one bathroom per floor (per 6 people) and as we were travelling in a group of four, there was a fair bit of waiting around for showers.

Very modern clean hostel, Staff are very nice. Nice touch having free towel, shower gel in the showers. I arrived late and i received excellent self check-in instructions.

The location was decent, near most spots in the old town. Everything was clean and well prepared.

The hostel has only one bathroom for six beds on the first floor, which is clearly insufficient. When I took a shower on Friday night, there was no hot water left. I was assigned the top bunk, and unfortunately there were no power outlets nearby, which made charging my phone quite inconvenient. Most hostels nowadays use electronic access systems, which are far more practical. Here, you’re forced to carry a physical key and pay a security deposit just to do so, which feels completely unnecessary and frankly illogical. One last observation: it’s understandable when hostels charge for a locker or dedicated storage space after check-out. But charging guests just to leave their luggage at the front desk makes no sense either.
