Elia and Yurie were kind and welcoming hosts. The room in their house was cosy and authentic with a handy little fridge and kettle. Supplied bikes made the trip into town much quicker than walking (!) and Elia also offered a 1000 yen car transport service. We really enjoyed the Mt Yakedake walk and Elia’s generous pasta dinner due to late arrival home was greatly appreciated.

The traditional Japanese bedding can take a bit of getting used to for those accustomed to softer mattresses and pillows.

Wir wurden sehr auf die Einhaltung der Hausregeln hingewiesen, aufgrund des hochwertigen und schwer oder nicht zu reinigenden japanischen Böden zwar verständlich. Jedoch suggerierte es uns immer wieder, dass wir sonst nicht pfleglich damit umgehen würden. Für kleine Kinder definitiv keine Unterkunft. Nur ein Obst, spezielle Marmelade (nichts klassisches) und für Teens, die noch keinen Kaffee mögen, gibt es auch keine Alternative. Auto erforderlich, zu weit weg vom Stadtzentrum.

Beautiful, clean and cosy. It was also special having dinner cooked from the produce grown in the garden. Elia also gives lots of tips on the local attractions.

Very spacious, super clean and great communications. We highly recommend this traditional Japanese home which has been restored with love and attention to detail. The hosts are chefs and offer breakfast, plus an optional dinner (outstanding). We used the bikes to explore Matsumoto (very fun), tour Matsumoto Castle, visit a local miso factory (amazing) and walk the trails at Kamikochi (great under trees in summer heat). Hosts offered great recommendations for meals, and took us on a grand adventure on one day. You’ll love this location. Stay a few days to really enjoy.
