De locatie (loopafstand tot alles!), het comfort van het appartement zoals airco en bedden, keuken, balkon, grote ruimtes, aanwezigheid van toiletartikelen. Ook de service van Gabriella was ongekend en fantastisch. Ze deelde tips met ons en loste een technisch probleem heel snel op met de eigenaar. We hebben enorm genoten van Palermo en het rustige, comfortabele appartement. Ik kan een verblijf aan iedereen aanbevelen!

Een van de twee douches had niet genoeg druk op het water en de douchekop bleef niet goed zitten. Dat was wat onhandig in het gebruik (maar geen groot probleem). Er is geen woonkamer maar gezien het mooie weer konden we buiten zitten op het inpandige balkon.

There are encouraging signs of infrastructure upgrades across the entire island and also in Palermo. While the apartment is indeed spacious, central and conveniently close to tourist attractions, it is located in a small side street in an area undergoing gentrification.

There are no overt signs that the landlord is upgrading/improving the building’s exterior (lift, storage and frontage/approach areas). This is a great disservice to apartment owners/tenants like Kharma House. However, it is advisable, fair and reasonable to disclose this context upfront to prospective guests. Certainly the promotional photos on the booking platform should reflect the offering more accurately i.e. beyond the green entrance doors lurks a ‘reception area’ and an ancient and vandalised lift. Failure to do so may be construed as misrepresentation. Three days into our 6 day stay someone urinated in the lift and it took days to be cleaned. We also recommend a house manual containing useful information and direction for safe use of facilities like shutters and gas appliances.

The location is very convenient to access various places of interest. I did not find the street on which it is located to be unsafe. It's true it is not esthetically pleasing, but it's safe enough. The apartment is spacious, with three good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bathroom is a decent size. The second bathroom is small but usable, though the shower door is partly blocked by the toilet bowl. There is a good sized balcony with lots of laundry lines to hang clothes. The cleaning lady who waited to check me in was nice.

We stayed 6 nights. We never met the host. 1) The 1st day, one of us took a plate down from the cabinet in the kitchen. The plate broke into two pieces in her hand, along an unusual U shape crack. I took a photo of the plate and reported it to the host, to let him know what happened. His response was that the cleaning lady did not report that any plate was broken but that it did not matter. 2) All the windows and patio door in the unit had rolling metal shutters, as is customary in many places in Italy. Everyday we would roll them up during the day, then down at night or before going out, for security. One day, while rolling the shutter down at the patio, it came crashing down like a guillotine, and cannot be opened again. I reported to the host that the shutter is broken, and asked him to come repair it. His response, without having inspect it, was to accuse me of having broken it. I am an old lady with no superhuman strength. I have used these metal rolling shutters many times with no problem. I did nothing to break it. It failed. He said he would come to repair it later, but never came during the remainder of our stay. 3) The washing machine and the "policy": At check in, the cleaning lady showed me how to use the washing machine, and advised that the policy is we must never use the dryer to dry our laundry, but to hang clothes out on the lines at the balcony. I agreed and thanked her. Thereafter, we used the washing machine several times without any problem. It's not broken. We never used the dryer to dry clothes. We hung them to dry. We did use the dryer as a shelf for holding clean clothes and towels as there were no shelves in that bathroom and the hooks were not reachable by me at 5'4". After checking out, I received a message from Booking.com to say the host claimed I broke the washing machine and failed to follow policy and must pay 250 Euros. I did neither, so I disputed the claim and never heard from him again.
