4 Bed in Ambleside oc-lr082

Great Location for access to Ambleside, with parking directly outside the cottage or in the integrated garage (if you have a small car). The cottage was well equipped in the kitchen and very comfortable in the bedrooms and lounge. The little patio garden outside was superb for a quiet relax. Did not use the heating, except for hot water, which was good, with a nice shower and bath in the bathroom.

Not much. The windows are a little tricky until you figure them out. and a tap in one of the bathrooms did not work great.

The cottage was in a great location, we very easily accessed Ambleside and some lovely walks from there on foot, without needing the car. It was close to the Stock Ghyll waterfalls, and we also did a walk off to Rydal Cave from there (you could also carry on to Grasmere). My friend and I did a 12 Peaks walk going upwards from the cottage to Red Crees, Fairfield and looping round the valley to Grasmere. We loved the cottage feel, it had some good facilities- small dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer - also a good shower and nice lounge space. The garage was very useful as it gets pretty tricky for parking on street. We went to The Unicorn pub just around the corner on our last evening - they have live music on Thursdays.

The double bed felt a little small and it got very warm at night (perhaps the heating was set to come on at night - it felt significantly warmer upstairs than downstairs). That said, it was fairly easy to cool down by opening the sash windows. The outside space was a little disappointing compared to the adjacent cottage (and do note that the back doors enter into the same space, so be careful in how you're dressed first thing or your neighbours may cop an eyeful!!). There were weeds and just one bench, I think it could be shown a little love.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hillside Cottage. The hosts had a comprehensive welcome guide for the home and the local area, which also included a little gift of milk in the fridge. The cottage had all the needed amenities (washer and dryer - you have to supply your own washing soap). There are sensor nightlights inside the cottage (lounge room and upstairs hallway) which were handy. Great location and most definitely would stay here again!

For myself I found the mattress to be too hard and the pillows too thin. But if you stacked the pillows it solved the problem. Also the carport/garage is designed more for smaller cars, so it's a tight squeeze for a bigger car (just tuck the mirrors in and you'll fit)

location was fab..

one tv for 6 people none in any bedrooms and wifi was a little slow.
