The Chariot Hikkduwa Resort

Design of the shared space is beautiful! Nice small pool and plants everywhere. The staff is friendly and tried to be very helpful although sometimes it was hard to find somebody. They let us have a shower after check out, so we were thankful. Definitely recimmed a Srí Lankan breakfast over a continental one.

The room was a little bit wet and the bathroom had a strange odour. The room was hard to lock/unlock.

Location was good although at the quieter end of the beach, about 20 mins walk from main beach restaurants. Beds are comfy and shower is very good.

Nothing. Train passes by every few hours and is quite loud but never caused us any issues as is over quickly

The hotel is attractive with a small swimming pool. The bedroom is of a generous size with a balcony, super sized shower and plenty of space to put cases and hang clothing. It is a short tuktuk ride to Turtle Beach. It is in a quiet area although the trains pass close by but we really didn't mind that. A lovely hotel that could easily be so much better.

I gave feedback to the manager and assistant manager before we left and hope that they take my comments on board. The room could have been cleaner, the 2 bedside lights were missing light bulbs when we arrived, the balcony doors were covered in hand prints and generally grubby. These were all sorted once pointed out to them. The breakfasts were ok but uninspiring. We were pretty sure that a teabag was reused for a second cuppa and that the same slices of toast may have been served up day after day. There seemed a problem with supplying additional tea and coffee for the room. There were other little things that, if done better, would greatly improve the guest experience.

Pool was really good. Staff was hospitable. Near to the beach.

Room was not maintained. Paint was falling apart, AC water was all over the corridor and the rooms were a bit small . There was a weird smell coming from the bathroom.
