Little Dockray Two-Bedroom Apartment Centre of Penrith

The location was good.

After driving for 8 hours we arrived at the apartment it had not been cleaned and still had the previous guests dirty bedding and wet towels on the beds, washing up in the sink etc. attempted to contact the property manager, via phone (5 attempts) and messaged asking for clean bedding so I could put my children to bed. Investigated myself in the end at 10 pm and no contact being made, i found clean linen on the middle entrance landing (between apartments) and stripped and made beds myself. We left the property at 6 am this morning and still no contact. The apartment was beautiful, just not clean and lack of communication was completely unacceptable. I am extremely disappointed with our stay, it was meant to be a welcome rest stop for the night before continuing our journey to Aberdeen.

Location was great, facilities very good, ease of access and value for money

The noise from people coming out of the pubs and the gulls in the night. Would have liked a slightly earlier check in than 4 pm

The bathroom being at the top of the stairs and in a bedroom - it is just as well we were family staying but I could see it being very awkward for couples/friends. The stairs up to the apartment were very narrow and steep - we wouldn't have booked it for that alone had we known. The 1st bedroom is awful, cracks everywhere, water patches, a terrible bed and a window which wouldn't close fully. A stretched cable for a lamp which was highly dangerous. Both the sitting room and 1st bedroom window are obviously original which is lovely but not sound proof and were so filthy we couldn't see anything. There was rice on the sitting room floor which we hadn't had. The blankets in the basket are not fresh and nor was the bedding on the 1st bed. The other bedding was lovely. It was very poor and sadly we would never return. The stairs and bathroom need to be pointed out before people book. It is also £4.60 for the carpark, £1 more than stated on Booking.com and £2 more than in the welcome folder. The whole apartment needs attention. Very disappointed.

Everything was placed properly specially kitchen stuff , I found even cooking oil and salt 🧂 in the cupboard . Bedding was fine ! I am grateful that I have been guided by host with regards to the parking and that has made a big difference for a stranger in the town so thank you 🙏

The host was really clear in instructing check in, making it super simple for us. Lovely apartment situated in the centre of Penrith, location was great. Apartment was as expected, and the whole booking process easy.

Lovely apartment. Right in the heart of the town centre.

No hot water after the first night. In should have messaged the owner but didnt. Also I hadnt read the fact you need to park in the local supermarket. Again probably my fault for not reading the details. Also had trouble with getting a ticket for the parking as you have to phone/text/download the app.

Nice carpets in room and staircases

1. The entrance passage way was narrow, damp and smelly. 2. There was an innecessay and hazardous 1-step well (depression) between the passage way and the stairs, causing my wife to trip and fall. 3. There was no hot water for shower and taps! No response when I tried to contact host and booking.com.

The entrance is worst and the apartment style looked so weird. Entrance is Soo bad and it felt unsafe

Very central location..would be good for a couple, or a family with younger children

Only 1 bathroom for the flat...which had to be accessed through one of the bedrooms....not good for couples traveling together.....was there on a Sat night and the noise from Pub leavers etc was very noisy....they have no control over that but be warned, it can be very loud

Excellent central location, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, good towels, cosy living area.

The entrance to the property is down an unwelcoming alleyway, with a metal security door at the end, though once inside the accommodation is light and pleasant. There are are 3 flights of stairs actually inside the flat, which was unexpected, (though I knew it was 'accessed by stairs', which I'd thought meant outside) and made getting luggage up and down difficult for me as I walk with a stick. There was no internet/TV throughout our entire stay which spoilt some plans. The only bathroom/loo is in the top bedroom, not just adjacent, no good if you travel with anyone except close family. The information in the folder should be more detailed about e.g. the hot water booster system, and the heater in the main bedroom wasn't working.This is potentially a lovely flat, shame it didn't quite get it right for us.

Good location in the centre of Penrith, good kitchen facilities and comfy beds

WiFi didn't work and there was NO hot water which was extremely disappointing, my husband and I got back to the apartment after a 8 hour hike in the lakes and all we wanted was a warm shower! We complained to the host about the WiFi and the hot water but they were very slow in coming back to us and we were left having freezing cold showers. On the second evening a maintenance provider called us and gave instructions of how to reset the hot water system, this worked but it took a good 2 hours for any water to come through. The man was very polite and apologetic and did offer us a partial refund but we are yet to see any funds returned to us. Unfortunately we would not stay at this apartment again.

Clean and tidy

Stayed for work. No internet, therefore no TV, in mobile phone black spot. Felt cut off. Contacted the owner several times who offered me £10 discount for the lack of internet. Never received the discount. Also lots of very steep stairs with a tricky bend at top. Only access to the only bathroom via one of the bedrooms.

Perfect location right in the centre of town. Cosy and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Felt like home from home. Good friendly communication from owner and easy instructions for access.

Great location in the centre of Penrith, excellent value, easy to get key from keybox, clean, tidy and comfortable, owner quick to respond to a query - we will definitely try to book again when we are visiting friends in Penrith. We used Morrisons car park as suggested for parking - Only £3.20 for 24 hours and a few minutes walk away.

No complaints, just some points to be aware of. The access isn't appealing, but don't let that put you off, as the accommodation is great. There were three of us staying, it would be very snug for 6 people, but fine as a base - just remember that there's only one shower room/toilet and it's accessed through the attic bedroom.

- Good facilities in the kitchen and for entertainment including board games and TV apps - Central location in Penrith - Checking in instructions were clear - Reasonably priced

- Only 1 used toilet roll provided - Access to the apartment is up three lots of stairs, of which are steep and could be awkward for some people. We struggled getting the pram up and down the stairs - Bathroom, the only bathroom/toilet in flat 2 is an en-suite in the top floor bedroom. If anyone needed to use the bathroom in the night, you had to go into the bedroom of the other guests. This may not be ideal for some groups - Noisy at times, as to be expected with older properties but the windows were very thin. We had to check that they weren't open at one point due to the noise from the street
