Palazzo Ammone - Sedil Dominova

Lovely flat in a perfect location.

We liked pretty much everything about this place. Wonderful location, right in the centre of Sorrento, close to shops, restaurants, cafés. Only 10 minutes walk to the marina. Very quiet and private, even though it was in tbe busy town centre. Some noise at night that might bother some but we slept through it. Balconies overlooking the main square, restaurants and the Palazzo building as shown in the photos is accurate. We were met by a lovely lady who gave us the keys and told us about the apartment. The lady said she lived in one of the apartments too and was on hand if we needed anything which was great. We were able to check in early which was so helpful and offered a late check out without us even asking as there was no one booked in the apartment after us, again, so helpful. The apartment is on the first floor and there are two or three flights of steps leading up from the main entrance to the door. Easy to get in and out and once outside you're in tbe middle of everything. Beds were clean, comfortable and big. We loved the washing machine and hung our washing out to dry on the airer and the balconies. One thing to note is that the electricity goes off when you leave the apartment (except the fridge freezer). We did our washing in the morning and hung it out so it was dry by the time we came back. The shower was good and there is a sign telling you the boiler is new so you can't stay in it too long which was good to know, and actually the boiler didn't run out anytime I took a shower. Plenty of clean towels. The kitchen was great with everything you could need including a microwave and a million different types of pots and pans! The fridge freezer is huge.

There is a narrow spiral staircase going up to the mezzanine floor where the bedrooms are. I wasn't a huge fan of this but it wasn't a big deal. We kept our suitcases downstairs as we were only staying a couple of days, maybe if we had been staying for longer we would have transferred things upstairs. The entrance to the en suite upstairs was a little low and you need to remember to duck so you don't bang your head (I'm not particularly tall at 5ft 6"). Again no big deal.

We had a wonderful stay largely thanks to the incredible location and the hospitality of the property manager, Martina. You truly cannot find a better spot—everything in Sorrento is within walking distance. Martina is absolutely awesome and went above and beyond for us. After a wet boat tour around Capri, we needed extra towels and she brought them over immediately. She was super responsive to all our questions and shared great local recommendations.

A few things for future guests to note: The listing shows pictures of multiple apartments, so I recommend asking specific questions before booking to know exactly which unit you are getting. While it lists two bathrooms, note that there is only one shower. Also, the hot water runs out quickly, so if you are a group of 4 like us, you’ll need to coordinate your shower times. The spiral staircase is quite narrow; we had medium-sized suitcases and didn't want to risk injury, so we chose not to take them upstairs. Both bedrooms are located upstairs and have comfortable queen beds. Lastly, the kitchen doesn't have a dishwasher or a drying rack, so doing dishes by hand can be a bit of a challenge.
