Lovely cottage, great location and helpful host.

Lovely cottage and great location right in the centre of town and 10 minute walk to the beach and the beach hut. We enjoyed eating out in some of Lyme's great food options but also cooking in the small but well appointed kitchen that had all the basics we needed. Host was really quick to answer our questions and we would totally recommend Valentine Cottage as a great base to explore Lyme Regis/Dorset from. Hopefully we'll be back soon.

Perfect little seaside cottage, beach hut a real bonus!

We've had a great return trip to Valentine Cottage. We love all the quirks of the cottage and all the new art on the wall are a great touch. One big bonus has to be the beach hut on the seafront, perfect for a quick cold dip in the sea followed by a hot chocolate. We'll be back for sure!

Just a bit tired

The beach hut was great, a real treat.

Wood chip paper, bunk bed, terrible water pressure, difficult shower arrangement. No welcome pack, not even a pint of milk.

Avoid: bathroom not fit for purpose, uncomfortable cottage located opposite a funeral parlour

The property is located in a lovely town but the overall value proposition that the property offers is poor. The descriptions in the listing are misleading, in particular the reference to "guests being able to enjoy a meal on an outdoor area while overlooking the sea views." There is no comfortable dining place inside or outside the property and the property itself is quite a distance from the sea and has no sea view. The property's patio is very small and enclosed without any view and only has 2 small chairs and a small coffee table. We could not use the patio at all due to seagulls nesting on the low roof next to the patio. The photographs in the listing are also very selective and hide flaws of the property, such as the small rooms and the fact that the bath has a very low slanted ceiling directly above it which makes it almost impossible to get into and out of the bath and you are not able to at all stand up in the bath.

This is not a seafront property - in fact it is in a very noisy and busy street and is located directly opposite a funeral parlour. It should be noted that the holiday cottage is quite a distance away from the sea, up a steep road in a busy street and does not offer any sea views - the only view is of the funeral parlour directly opposite the cottage. The bathroom is not fit for purpose as it is very difficult and dangerous to get into and out of the bath due to the low slanted ceiling directly above the bath. The bath is small to sit down in (once you manage to get in) and the water pressure is very poor. The property has many narrow and dangerous staircases with no emergency lighting. The bathroom is down steps from the staircase landing which is dangerous in the dark. The property is not comfortable. It is poorly laid out, all the rooms are small, the ceilings are low especially downstairs and in the bathroom, the chairs are small and there is no proper dining area - to eat at the table four people need to sit in a semi circle facing the wall. The kitchen sink is small and there is only a small bar fridge with no dishwasher so not comfortable for self catering. The carpets are old and smell musty and the windows don't open more than a slither so the property is very stuffy. It is difficult to find parking in Lyme Regis in peak season and the cottage does not offer any parking. It is difficult to unpack and pack your car as the street in front of the cottage is narrow and very busy. This property is uncomfortable and not big enough for four people. When we raised concerns the owners did not bother to respond.

Comfy accommodation in great location

Wonderful convenient location in Lyme Regis. Lovely bedrooms with comfortable beds. Clean linen and towels. Fantastic to have use of beach hut for the day.

Fantastic family beach trip getaway

The beds were comfortable, loved the use of the beach hut. Cosy feeling and traditional. Good access to town. The reading window was a hit with my son (7)

Such a lovely quirky property, really nicely designed. Super comfy bed! Great location and the beach hut was an amazing bonus. We really enjoyed our stay
