Unfortunate loss of water

An ideal location right next to the Piazza Duomo. A clean and cozy hotel. A spacious and comfortable room, decorated in a retro and "desert-deco" style. A roomy bathroom. An acceptable breakfast with a constantly replenished selection of dishes. Magnificent coffee and eggs cooked to order. Very friendly, highly skilled, professional, and exceptionally attentive staff.

The administration of this B&B withholds certain details that would be useful to know in advance. The hotel is situated within a pedestrian zone, meaning it is accessible exclusively on foot—the use of any form of transport is impossible. It would be helpful to know where the best place to get off is in order to reach the hotel. To reach the hotel floor, guests must ascend 35 steps; there is no elevator, regardless of the reason. Due to limited seating in the breakfast room, meals are served at individually assigned times. Due to long-standing plumbing issues on the island, guests are asked to dispose of used toilet paper in the bathroom waste bin rather than flushing it down the toilet.

Situated in the heart of Ortigia island, just 67 steps away from Piazza Duomo, Maeco B&B is a nice place to stay while exploring Syracuse and the surrounding area. The B&B occupies part of the high second floor of an ancient mansion accessible by 35 steps. The B&B owner Martina and her staff are very friendly, highly qualified, professional and extremely attentive. The assigned room was pretty spacious and clean. The lack of a small fridge and coffee maker in the room was a bit disappointing, however these appliances, located in a common area, were available for sharing with other guests at any time. The windows of the room overlooked a narrow street, noisy during the day, but quite quiet at night. Although, due to the limited seating in the breakfast room, food is served by respectively scheduled time, the choice of constantly replenished dishes is wide and varied enough to satisfy all needs. Eggs and coffee prepared according to individual order.

No elevator available. Due to traffic restrictions, the hotel is unreachable by any form of transportation and apparently the best way to get there from Archimede Square is on foot along a cobblestone street. While the request to dispose of used toilet paper in the bathroom trash can instead of flushing it down the toilet sounds peculiar and cumbersome, it is justified by the island's long-standing plumbing issues. Despite all this, the water pressure and hot water temperature are up to international standards.

Wonderful location centrally located. A small intimate hotel with very caring managment and staff. The breakfast was wonderful and everything was quite clean and comfortable. The room overlooked the outside street with enough activity.

There is nothing that I would complain about. The Owner manager was present and her staff was very professional.
