Villa Gessa: A Paradise of Peace Just Steps from Bologna

Wonderful property outside of Bologna - easily accommodated our 14 people. Owners could not have been more accommodating.Spotless, quiet,fantastic pool.

Villa Gessa is how it describes itself, a paradise of peace. Francesca, the owner, and her daughter Elena went out of their way to make sure that everything was just right for the party staying there. I can't thank them enough for the time and effort they put in making sure everything was perfect for the stay. We would definitely book this villa in future.

Villa Gessa was the absolutely perfect place for our group of 13 family and friends to cook our very own Feast of the Seven Fishes in Italy, as we've been promising to do for years. From 13 months to 75 years, every age found delight and wonder in the accommodations, the location, and the nearby charms of Modena, Bologna, Gezzo, Ravenna and more. Our hosts made it easy to enjoy our time by helping tidy the house every morning, providing local information, and helping with every odd request. I think each of us is dreaming of how we can come again to Villa Gessa!

The property sits on acres. You are greeted by statuesque trees that line the grounds leading up to the crowned jewel! The house and garden is absolutely stunning! If you love fine details and architecture, this mansion is for you! Francesca and Elena responded immediately to any and every request/question we had, and because there were 16 of us, we had many questions! Francesca helped me designate rooms so that everyone was comfortable. Much appreciated. We had everything we needed: all dishes, linens (even all bedding was changed a few days into our stay). The house was full of life and interesting items that told the story of the owner and her family. The details were beautiful and the furniture fit the time/age of the home. Laundry on premises with dryer. Many bathrooms accommodated everyone. Barbecue grill and clean pool onsite. The caretaker, Ruan, was there any time we needed him (including a 12:00 am call because we decided that was the best time too cook lol, and couldn’t figure out something with the oven). He was very friendly and often removed trash from the kitchen. He even loaded up his car to take some luggage to the airport at 2:00 am). The adjacent restaurant was amazing. We ate a late lunch there which was delicious. Very friendly staff. Carrefour supermarket is a 4 minute drive away to pick up food and essentials.
