Calm, amazing lakeside escape and kind, responsive hosts.

Mattikala Cottages won us over in five minutes. The house is calm, bright, and clean. Everything we needed was there: hooks by the door, sharp knives, comfy beds, quiet corners for a book. The private beach kept pulling us back. Morning coffee with toes in the water, lazy swims after lunch, and a barbecue that turned dinner into a little celebration. Smoke, stars, happy silence. One hell of an experience. We left rested and a little smug that we found this place. We are coming back every year. Thank you, Mattikala.

Beautiful cabin at an idilic location

The property was very easy to find, super clean and in a great and peaceful location. It has a sauna and some outdoor games that we used, both very nice pluses! All in all, a lovely place.

I was surprised at having to pay extra for bed linen and having to make my own bed - but it could be that I have very little experience with cabins and it’s the norm! One of the beds on the downstairs bedroom was a bit uncomfortable due to it being a bit tilted. The wifi wasn’t really working for us but it wasn’t necessary. Nothing major, I would recommend this place still!

All-around great place for family holidays with fantastic service and cozy stay

The stay at the cottage was exceptional. The property is well maintained, clean, and greatly located with a ~10 minutes walk to the lake and around 10 minutes ride to the local grocery stores. We had our dog with us and there are a plethora of trails for everyone to enjoy (we visited in summer). The place was superbly equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay (and then some). The communication with the property manager and the owner was fantastic - they were extremely helpful (needed some assistance on running a few appliances and the internet) and super responsive.

We thought everything was fantastic and purely as a personal preference and really not a down point - the bed mattresses could have been tad bit stiffer and the indoor lights in certain areas could have been brighter.

Comfortable and peaceful stay :)

Matikkala cottage was everything we hoped for. Cozy, fully equipped and owner, who was quick to solve any issues. A great stay on a quiet island near Ruokolahti! Good for families.

Not really something the owner can change but the closest swimming location is better reached with a bike or car.

Adorable cottage surrounded by forest

The cottage is just adorable. Staying in the middle of a forest, but still having all the amenities. It is well equipped and there’s a big patio with a BBQ. There were some issues with wifi and the host fixed it immediately. That was very appreciated. There are nice berry picking spots walking distance from the cottage. We just regret not staying longer than 3 nights.

It is located relatively close to the gigantic Stora Enso paper plant (10 min drive).

Very well equipped cottage

Very well equipped cottage: barbeque place on terrace, lot of games and board games, washing machine, drying closed, big freeze and fridge etc. Sleeps up to 8 people. Good location but still in peace and quiet. Lot of sporting activities both winter and summer within short distance if needed. Very clean cottage.

Cabana este foarte drăguță si confortabila! Pentru iubitorii de sauna, este un atu in plus faptul ca cei care stau in cabana au propria sauna 🫠!

Oarecum stresante regulile legate de eliberarea camerei - trebuie strânse așternuturile, paturile facute, mobilierul trebuie pus exact unde erau la început, grătarul curățat daca a fost folosit etc. Dacă esti pe graba la plecare, cred ca poate fi stresant. În caz contrar, taxa perceputa pt curățenie este mare: 150 euro cel puțin. Noi am avut ceva timp in ziua respectiva si speram ca am reușit sa punem totul la punct si de regula suntem oricum organizati si vrem sa nu cream prea mult deranj.

Wspaniałe okoliczności przyrody. Dużo wspólnej przestrzeni do odpoczynku w domu. Meble na tarasie. Bardzo dobrze wyposażona kuchnia. W domu było bardzo czysto i wygodnie.

Rentoutavaa

Erinomainen, rauhallinen mökki ja iso plussa ilmastoinnista, kun meidän lomajakso osui lämpimään aikaan. Henkilökunta oli avulias ja vastaukset kysymyksiin tulivat välittömästi, iso kiitos siitä. Noin kilometrin päässä on pieni rantapätkä, jossa on myös kota. Tässä kohtaa rantaa oli siisti ja rauhallinen.

Ainoa pieni miinus tulee hiekkatiestä, joka menee mökin ohi mäkeä alaspäin, jossa ajoi jonkun verran autoja. Kuivan sään takia pölyä lensi runsaasti jokaisen auton kohdalla, erityisesti, kun ne tulivat jyrkkää kohtaa ylöspäin. Mökki on päättyvän tien päässä, eli olisi hyvin rauhallinen sijainti, jos autot eivät menisi tätä epävirallista pätkää pitkin.

Sijainti eli rannalle pitkä matka, joka ei viime kädessä ollut kovin hyvä uimaranta. Mökki on varmaan todella hyvä talvella laskettelukautena sijaintinsa johdosta. Ehkä mökissä voisi olla esim. 3- os. jatkojohto , koska itse pistorasioita aika vähän.

Nopeasti sai yhteyttä omistajiin kun ei löydetty grillipaikalle ja oli muutenkin avulias. Kaikki tarpeellinen toimi, oli tarpeeksi astioita ja tilava jääkaappi. Kierrätyspiste oli lähellä, että sai metallit, lasit yms sinne, joka itselle oli iloinen yllätys. Mökin sai viileeks ja saunan kuumaks ja hyvä sauna olikin sähkösaunaksi. Oli mölkkyä, tikkataulua pihalla et tekemistä kyllä keksi. Majoituttiin perheenä, kahden nuoren aikuisen kanssa, eikä heiltäkään kritiikkiä, joka kertoo kyllä paljon.

Mökillä rauhallinen sijainti, lyhyen matkan päässä Ruokolahden kauniista kylästä ja lisää hienoja paikkoja löytyy puolen tunnin ajomatkan sisään; Huuhanranta (ranta), Salpalinja, Imatrankoski, Vuoksi ym. Mökki on tilava ja kaikki pelaa.

Erg schoon, comfortabel en klassiek verblijf

Het was zeer schoon en van alle gemakken en instructies voorzien. Bij vragen kreeg je heldere oplossingen en berichten terug. Vriendelijk personeel. Het was erg rustig. Perfect voor een kort en lang verblijf.

Wellicht nog wat meer verduistering voor in de slaapkamer, gezien het vroeg licht wordt.

Charmante chalet op een idyllische locatie

De chalet is gelegen op een rustige locatie en biedt alle comfort. We voelden ons onmiddellijk thuis. De gastvrouw bracht ons een bezoekje en is een erg lieve dame. We logeerden hier in de winter, er is een kleine skipiste op 300 meter voor de liefhebbers, voor de wandelaars raden we een wandeling aan over het bevroren meer en tussen de besneeuwde bossen, weg met alle stress! Zalige plek dus, een echte aanrader als je van rust en kalmte houdt zoals wij.

Eigenlijk niets.. misschien een kleine tip: voorzie iets meer handdoeken voor de mensen die het linnenpakket bijbestellen alsook wat extra glazen in de keuken. Maar nu zijn we aan het muggenziften, want we vonden ons verblijf echt geweldig!
