Rented for 2 nights for a family catch up with my daughters and their partners 6th to 8th February 2026. Well appointed and everything was available to use, TV, WiFi, dishwasher and kitchen equipment etc. I can only speak for myself but the ensuite room on the top floor was generally lovely, tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Nikita was very helpful in researching the location of electric car public chargers as Cheddar doesn't seem to have any. Just a shame that the ones suggested in Wells which apparently are fast chargers at 22kw only deliver at best 7kw per hour, so a 4 hour parking session only managed to add 110 miles to it, but it just got me home to Oxfordshire, with a mild bit of range anxiety.. The nearest ultra fast 250kw was supposedly in Street.
Locality for the gorge, caves (although we didn't go in the 2 caves / museum as thought it was too expensive at almost £125 for 5 adults) Did Jacobs ladder and about 1/4 of cliff top walk instead for £34 for us all, but wet weather made it too slippery and dangerous. My daughter fell over 4 times and got covered in mud! Thanks Nikita for having a washing machine in the house so she could launder her clothes. Great pub 2 doors down, the gardeners arms, very welcoming and watched the England / Wales rugby. Nice meal at The Bath arms in the evening, only 15 minutes walk away..
I think I came to the Gorge and visited the caves when I was a kid with my parents and again when visiting Bristol with my wife around the time my eldest was young so I doubt I will return again, but despite the incredibly very wet weather we had to contend with we did have a lovely time and would definitely recommend Purdie Close to others.
I only gave it 9 out of 10 overall because there are a couple of decoration and maintenance things but because I'm employed by a high end professional construction contractor I notice the small things, sorry. I'm only nit picking I suppose but couldn't stop the ensuite shower floor getting wet, some paint missing on walls, silicone seal to ceiling in shower failing and the front entrance door very stiff, possibly swelled with all the rain.

We were travelling with three children under 5 years of age, and you can tell the host thought about everything we could possibly need for our stay. From toddler beds, games, toys, books, kids cutlery & plates etc. The host was exceptionally responsive, especially when our toddler left her sleepy 'Goosey' in her toddler bed, they were very kind enough to post it back to us with no issues at all. We felt like if there was more to do in Cheddar we would 1000% come back - but we feel like we've done everything we could.
Honestly - nothing! Exceeded expectations for us

Purdie Close may look small from the outside, but inside it’s absolutely huge! The open-plan kitchen and dining area are lovely, with a fully stocked kitchen including tea, coffee, sugar, and all the cooking facilities you could need. The living room is comfortable, with a huge TV and all streaming options.
The decor throughout is beautiful. On the second floor, there are two massive double bedrooms and a spacious bathroom, while the third floor has a stunning double bedroom with an ensuite and an amazing shower.
Check-in was easy, and communication with the owners was seamless. Everything about this stay was just amazing, I couldn’t recommend it more!
Absolutely nothing!

The house is lovely, it is spacious warm and comfortable- a true home from home. There is absolutely everything that you could need and it is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk into the gorge. It’s in a quiet residential area, with a pub about 3 doors down. We went to the pub for a cider and everyone was really friendly, it’s dog friendly too which is a bonus. The owners were excellent- great communication and provided loads of information about the local area. If we come back to Chedder we would definitely stay here again!
Nothing, it is absolutely lovely 🥰

Great stay at Purdie Close.
Very modern and comfortable with everything required for our visit to Cheddar, including two showers with great pressure, perfect after a full days hike in the Mendip Hills..
The location was really good, just a short walk to the old village area and the start of some very good walks/hikes.
Communication with the owners was excellent and very smooth from beginning to end.
Definitely recommended for a family stay when visiting the area.

The house was spacious. And beautiful decor.
Located very close to the gorge. But tucked away from the tourists.
Would be a great place for a holiday. We only used for a weekend for a family wedding.

Perfect location, close to two pubs, plenty of places to eat out and roughly 20 min from Cheddar Gorge. House was beautifully decorated, and appointed. We were all very comfortable, and slept very well. Our dog was very happy and settled here. Fantastic communication- warm, friendly but professional. Already rebooked for next year.
Nothing. Fab timec

Our stay at Purdie Close was just perfect, beautifully decorated and homely feel. We had 6 adults - with 3 double bedrooms , we had loads of space. All amenities within walking distance, friendly pubs, Italian, Greek and fish and chip restaurants. … and the biggest bar of chocolate as a welcome gift ! The hosts were so welcoming and on hand if anything needed ( not that we need anything) . Would strongly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the area. Will honestly be going back for another stay.
Absolutely nothing! - the hosts had thought of everything.

It is a lovely house in a great location which was perfect for our needs. Everything in the house was great. The pub three doors down was v friendly but doesn't serve food. However, the town is a short walk away with plenty of pubs and eateries. We really liked the decor! Everything was thought of for our needs. Nikita is very friendly and approachable. If we visit Cheddar again, we would definitely stay here again.
Nothing to dislike.

Well equipped kitchen.
Good sized rooms over three floors with plenty of storage.
Parking space round the back of the property is great.
Brilliant location for everything in Cheddar.
Lots of pubs, restaurants and take aways if you don’t fancy cooking. We tried Spice Cottage and our food was great. They deliver too.
Could do with a dishwasher but it’s not a problem to wash up!

Great little house, beautifully presented with modern decor and really comfy beds. Suited 5 of us plus 2 dogs, in a convenient spot and we had a lovely mini break. Fab communication with owners from booking to the end of our stay.
No dishwasher meant doing the washing-up but not a big issue, and we could have done with a larger grassed back garden, just because of having 2 dogs.

a Lovely quaint property over three floors so quite spacious, we had three in our group so we all had a room each. Its a short walk to Cheddar tourist info and gorge which we thoroughly explored (we didn’t use the car all weekend which was lovely)
The house is warm, comfortable and well equipped…i can’t think of anything missing, there is even a pub a couple of doors up so what’s not to love 😍

The house is beautiful, very clean and tidy and spacious. There's loads of board games, play station, lot's of books for all ages . we we were a party of 4 adults 2 teenagers and there was ample room for everyone. It literally has everything you could need whilst on holiday, a very well stocked kitchen, and even a hairdryer in the drawer upstairs. The neighbour was lovely and friendly. The property owners were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble, you drop Nikita a quick msg, and we received a reply within the hr👍. The local pub was 3 doors away, and the staff in there were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. It would have been great if they served bar meals (chicken n chips in a basket, etc). We walked into Cheddar, which took us no more than 10 minutes at a leisurely pace, spent most of the day just walking around looking in shops(there's even a Christmas shop),we stopped in a little cafe and had a cup of tea sat watching the world go by which was very relaxing. It's a beautiful little place to visit. Only a 30-minute drive to Glastonbury. We went to a scrumpy farm called Wilkins, which is a must if you like cider at a very reasonable price (£13)for a 5lt jug. They also sell homemade cheese's,chutneys, jam's,pickled onions, fresh fruit and veg, eggs and more. All in all, our week away in Cheddar was fabulous, and lots of family memories were made. We will very highly recommend this beautiful house to our friends and family we could not fault a thing. Thanks, Nikita and Paul.
There isn't a thing we could fault about the whole property
Everything was fabulous.👍
