I’ve stayed at Jays Guest House several times, and it has always been a consistently good experience. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast is filling. The self check-in is particularly convenient if you prefer flexibility and want to get on with your stay. The hosts communicate clearly and are always helpful. Having access to a shared kitchen is also a great bonus, especially if you want to save money by cooking rather than eating out.
Some reviews by other guests mention that the décor is somewhat a little dated. While that is fair to a point, it’s important to keep expectations in line with the price. This is a budget-friendly B&B, not a luxury hotel, and for what you pay, it offers excellent value.

The proprietor was pleasant and the breakfast was good.
The self- check in process is impersonal and not really in keeping with the notion of a ‘guest house’.
The room was freezing cold and smelt damp on arrival. Suggest keeping the heating on low a couple of hours prior to guest arrival.
