Forest Rawana homestay Ella

Definitely the people working there are the best part. Such a kind family, treated us so well all the time and helped us with absolutely everything we needed. Breakfast was so amazing, huge and super fresh. The bed was great, the best I slept in Sri Lanka, a great mattress, good bed linen, good towels, good AC. The place is up in the mountain, 2 minutes ride to the main road and 6 minutes by scooter to the city center where you can eat and buy everything you need. We prefered to be in there because the city center is extremely busy and noisy, and the hotel is calm and silent. There were always tuktuks available in front of the hotel cause there’s a touristic place on the same street for those without car/moto. Room was super clean, had a fridge and hair dryer too!

Only thing that could be better was water pressure, but it was not a problem at all. It was warm!

We stayed at the Forest Rawana for 2 nights during our visit to Ella and were very happy we did. Firstly, the setting is absolutely spectacular, high up on the hillside in thick jungle. Secondly, the family are the nicest people and really made the stay feel personal and special. We stayed in the family room (2 double beds) which was perfect for our family of 4, with decent AC, mosquito nets and a fridge. Our driver in small minivan struggled to get up the very narrow and sometimes steep road up to the home stay with oncoming traffic, so we opted to get tuk-tuks to and from the main road after we arrived. These were readily available and cheap.

EVERYTHING WAS JUST AMAZING. THE HOST, HOSPITALITY, LOCATION, FACILITIES, ROOM, FOOD AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST SUPERB AND AMAZING. WORTH OF EVERYTHING THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR STAY BEAUTIFUL AND MEMORABLE THERE

This family homestay is a delight, nestled on the side of a mountain with a forest backdrop. Slow mornings on the veranda with panoramic views of the Ella mountains and birdsong while teenagers slept later was quite magical. The room was well equipped and beds/linen were comfortable and peaceful. The breakfasts were very generous and just kept coming, with a huge variety of Sri-Lankan dishes. The family hosting us were so friendly and helpful. We were greeted with fresh juices and warmth. There are lots of stairs to get to the rooms, but lit up at night and felt cozy, the family kindly carried our bags up and down so stairs were not an issue. It’s a 15 min (£2) tuk tuk ride up a steep hill from the homestay to and from Ella town, which is a bit of a tourist strip with restaurants/shops and dancing.

It was perfect.
