Magnificent sea views and seclusion surrounded by nature, where you can relax with your family and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside! The island is a Biosphere Reserve! Ecosystems The coastline of Graciosa Island is steeply indented, giving rise to interesting bays. It is predominantly rocky, with small sandy areas. There are also islets a short distance away that are of great scenic and natural importance, as they are important nesting habitats for seabirds. They also serve as staging areas for migratory birds. Of particular note in this role is the Praia Islet, which is one of the largest and most diverse in terms of nesting birds in the Azores. The island of Graciosa has a diverse volcanological heritage that includes volcanic cavities, lava caves and algares and a marked geodiversity of landscapes. The Caldeira, to the south-east of the island, is one of the most interesting geological curiosities in the Azores. Its cool climate makes it the wettest and most sheltered part of the island. The steeply sloping interior slopes are covered in forest.
