Great location, stunning views, perfect for the Monsal Trail.

Loved the property, and especially its location. The stay was fantastic, and the walks along the Monsal Trail are always fabulous. Would definitely book again, but perhaps not again in January. We've visited the Peak District many times, and this was by far the best location we have stayed in.

If I'm being picky, the house could have been warmer on arrival. I concede it was a very cold day, but it took several hours for the house to actually warm up. Because of the freezing conditions, we thought we'd light a fire only to find 4 pieces of wood, which didn't last long. Didn't want to risk getting in the car again as it was minus 7 and we didn't know the roads very well to find more wood. Have been to other places, where wood is always supplied.

I loved this little cottage. and would definitely go back.

No breakfast is provided. The location is down a single track road but is a lovely location with a river running in front of the house. When we arrived the little Christmas tree was lit up and stockings were hanging from the hearth. There were plenty of candles to light and plenty of wood if you wanted to build a fire. I deal for a romantic getaway but really pleasant for anyone.

Personally, I was a LITTLE STRESSED DRIVING IN THE DARK whilst it was raining down a single track road, but that is to do with me rather than the location of the cottage.

Absolutely Perfect

Really nice inside, fully equipped and in a gorgeous location perfect for walking. Felt like we could fully switch off for 2 days. Nice country pub in walking distance. The hosts are great, we knew everything in advance so made sure we took plenty of food and some extra firewood and had a cosy couple of days walking and sitting by the fire. Biscuits, tea coffee and milk all provided on arrival, with a few logs for the fire. An absolutely lovely touch were the 2 dog biscuits waiting for our hounds, it’s safe to say they fully approved. We’re already in conversation with our parents to book to come with them next year! We can’t wait to be back.

The property is perfect for a walking retreat in the countryside. Even if you forget something, Bakewell is at most a 20 minute drive away.

Location of the house was very good. Able to do good walks from the door. House clean, quiet and well equipped. The owner kindly allowed us to drop off items early.

No complaints except more logs for the fire would have been nice. Everything was acceptable for a 2 night stay

Great stay in a cosy cottage in wonderful surroundings

It was well equipped and stylish in a shabby chic way. We loved that.The main bedroom was a great size .The oven was big and we enjoyed cooking there. The property was close to fabulous walks and pub up the road was very cosy and traditional

Nothing really but it was a bit cramped for four of us to eat in the kitchen . Perhaps a black bin bag would have been good but the bins were easily accessible and we recycled.

Lovely relaxing stay

The location is amazing, we walked every day and only needed to use the car to go to the supermarket. There are lots of walks right on the doorstep.

Absolutely perfect.

We loved the decor, location the view of the river everything can’t complain just a beautiful little place with all the comforts of being at home in a beautiful location and parking opposite was great. And being able to bring our dog was lovely she also enjoyed the scenery and was very comfortable.

Perfect location and great little place with everything we needed. Everything was very welcoming and comfortable. Perfect for getting on to the Monsal trail.

Its a shame there is so little outdoor space to sit outside - but understandable given the nature of the property.

Delightful gem in a quiet location

What a superb cottage, perfect location for some peaceful battery recharging. It is so well equipped that we felt spoilt for choice, and the decor is charming. It is also spotlessly clean and was delightfully cool in this heatwave.

The only negative thing for us was the absence of an old-fashioned teapot and tea cosy, but that was easily rectified with a delightful trip to Buxton.

Nice cosy house, well equipped and very comfortable. Well located with easy access to the Monsal Trail and a nice pub at the end of the road. Good little garden at the front to sit by the river and watch the trout catching flies, or the heron looking for the trout!

The perfect place to come back to after a day walking! So cosy and quiet.

Clean, well furnished and decorated and super cosy! Comfortable sofas and beds and cosy bedding. It was a pleasure to stay here and I lovely place to relax in after a day walking. I like that there was a pub in walking distance and there were nice walks from the door. I sat outside by the river one evening and it was so peaceful.

Perfection

Beautiful decor and amazingly comfy beds. The riverside view is perfect. It’s situated at the front of the cottage and your dog needs to be on a lead if you sit there. What a peaceful cottage, with everything you need to have a relaxing weekend away. We booked an extra night within hours of being here. Will definitely be returning. Thank you to the owners, the personal touches where well thought out and this cosy cottage is home from home x

Idyllic riverside cottage.

Lovely position on the river, loved the riverbank seating area for watching the wildlife. Cottage was comfortable and well equipped and host's communication was great although we didn't meet them. 2 good double rooms with very comfortable beds and nice pillows. Full kitchen if needed with plenty of crockery, glasses and utensils. Would definitely recommend for a quiet break in a beautiful setting.

A bit chilly indoors even in warm weather. Have to travel for food, good to have basic supplies and a full petrol tank.

Very restful, fab walks and a great pub up the road

Location just superb. So quiet and lovely to have the river and wildlife on doorstep.

Only one issue. Sealant round bath doesn't look great .....it was black and needs re doing. Yes it was clean ....but the black is underneath the sealant so doesn't clean off. Detracts from what is otherwise a lovely cottage.

Amazing Cottage

The cottage was in an amazing quiet location and perfect for exploring the Monsal Trail and surrounding areas, there was parking for 2 cars, pub a mile walk up the quiet lane. The cottage itself was well equipped with everything you need, it was warm, comfortable and clean with a few little treats thrown in

Exceptionally Clean and Peaceful

Heron's Rest is a wonderful place. It's immaculately clean. Cozy but with plenty of room. Our family is tall, so we also appreciated the ample-sized beds in both rooms. We walked at Stanage Edge and visited Chatsworth House & grounds. There are plenty of other nearby spots for enjoying and wandering. The peace and quiet and natural beauty at Heron's Rest makes it a perfect location, and the kitchen is well-equipped. This is a place where you can tell the hosts want you to be happy.

Cosy, traditional cottage style with modern conveniences. Lovely range cooker and an open fire, comfortable beds. Amazing location hidden away in a lovely hamlet right opposite a beautiful wild river. We saw 6 herons in three days right outside the cottage! Very attentive and thoughtful hosts who genuinely care about your experience and work hard to create a comfortable and unique holiday home. Great location for exploring the Dales with many footpaths starting from the hamlet and loads to explore just short drives away.

Cosy stay in a beautiful spot in the Peak District.

It’s a wonderful little cottage with all the amenities you could possibly need. It has modern appliances as well, which are fairly new, and are very nice to use. The hosts left us a little welcome pack with a card which was such a nice touch :) The cottage was perfect for our group of 3 and it’s located in the loveliest spot among peaks and the river Wye, with parking just outside the cottage. The weather had already started to get a little chilly, but the cottage was cosy and warm at all times. We’ll gladly go back for a longer stay!

Nice and relaxing but the owners just need to be a bit more customer focused.

Location is great for quiet walks and some nature study. The nearby Angler's Rest pub is great and helpfully offers gluten free meals. Main downside of the isolated location is no shop in the hamlet so you have to take everything you need at least for the first 24 hours.

Instructions for various things too sketchy: heating, TV, shower, cooker. Dodgy table lamps.

The perfect stay.

This property is lovely, warm and clean. It has a very nice feel to it and is in a beautiful location. It is good value for money. We had a nice welcome basket, milk and water in the fridge, clean towels and hotel style shampoo, conditioner etc… A lovely log fire in the kitchen and helpful guide to the village on the desk. Easy to access on arrival and lots to do in the area. To be honest, I cannot fault this property, I would recommend to anyone and would return any time! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
