Bakewell and the spa town of Buxton are within 5 miles with numerous attractions and shops. Historic houses such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, as well as several National Trust properties, are within easy driving distance, as are the Blue John Caves in Castleton. Cycle hire on Monsal Trail, 1 mile. Horse riding and golf can be found locally. Shop on campsite, 300 yards, pub 1 mile.

Our second time back here , very rural- can walk from the door .we love the view of the hills from the lounge window!Barn is always lovely and warm. Also has a log burner , very cosy .Nice comfortable bed , no light pollution so good nights sleep .Owners around if you need them but unobtrusive.Well equipped for a perfect stay .

We had a great time staying at Barn End Cottage finding it very comfortable. It is very conveniently within a short walk to the Monsal Trail and Pennine Bridal Way and we enjoyed some great walks with the dog. Situated in beautiful countryside it was obviously a short drive away from the supermarket in Buxton.

The Barn was beautifully clean and well decorated. The kitchen was well equipped but some of the utensils were past their best and could do with replacing (scissors and tongues particularly). Maybe they haven't been previously reported.The only downside was the heating system which didn't work effectively. Downstairs was reasonable because there was a log burner and the owner provided extra logs. Upstairs was very cold, and the plug-in heater didn't provide any real benefit. In summer it's a perfect location for exploring the Peak District.

Fantastic stay. Perfect for a family of four and a dog. We were looking for a quiet location with walks from the house and this delivered. The hosts are perfect. Really helpful but it’s also very private. Views fantastic. Chee Dale gorgeous. Monsal trail close. The property has plenty of space. Highly recommend.
