A fairy-tale luxurious cottage - The Tea Caddy

The cottage is beautiful. It has so much character. The wallpaper is gorgeous, as is the kitchen and bespoke cabinets. It's quirky inside and out. The grounds are private and surrounded by trees. They provided quality dishes, pots, pans, everything you could want and there were so many nice touches (e.g. a book with all the places to visit in the area, lots of board games). The kitchen and bathrooms looked clean, organised and very beautiful. It really is a magical little cottage!

When we arrived it felt like no one had been in there for a while. The main problems were in the bedrooms, they were just tired and not very clean. In our room, there was a dirty sock behind the door covered in dust and dirt, the duvet was stained, old, heavy and clumpy. The blanket over the bed had really seen better days, it wasn't cozy or something you'd want to use. The sheets, blankets and towels were definitely not luxury! In the downstairs bedroom where my daughter was, the duvet was dirty around the sides where it lay on the floor which had clearly not been washed in a while. There were dustballs and lots of spiders. In the closet, top right, there was a siders nest with literally hundreds of baby spiders. There were spiders and cobwebs throughout the house, which I could forgive a bit but it was clear no one had touched them in a long time. My daughter felt really uncomfortable. Her hand towel was rolled on top of the other towels and it was covered with yellow stains. Not sure how someone could roll it and not notice. The stairs outside leading down to the lower room were not swept and there were cobwebs on them and all over the door and the window of the door. So I found a broom in the garage and did my best to sweep and get rid of it so it looked a bit nicer for my daughter--and so she could open the door to get some air. I wanted to clean the bedrooms but there was no dustbin and brush, broom, or vacuum. I'm sure the cottage felt more like a luxury cottage when all the bedding and towels were fresh and new.

Stunning cottage in beautiful landscape. Lovely secluded garden. Really enjoyed a visit to Flatford Mill. Generous with food and drink. Will try their low plastic cleaning solutions at home.

Stairs to kitchen and living room are steep and may challenge the less mobile.
