Spacious Tudor Cottage with Beautiful Garden

Hidden away in a private courtyard just off the historic Dedham High Street, staying at The Tallow Factory is a uniquely magical experience, waking up to birdsong in the trees by day and getting lost in the stars by night. The original part of this spacious three storey house is a 16th century candle factory made from ships timber, on the same ley lines as the magnificent horse chestnut tree that stands in front of the iconic St Mary's Church, immortalised on the horizon in so many of John Constable's paintings of Dedham Vale. Our majestic master bedroom enjoys a high ceiling with stained glass windows, featuring a luxurious kingsize bed, lounge area, writing desk, fitted oak wardrobes and ensuite WC. Our second bedroom has views over the classical English garden, a full ensuite bathroom with bath tub and either super king bed or twin singles. Our third is the Rose Room that can be set as either a king or twin singles with its own sink in the room and shower room adjacent. Our fourth bedroom is a two-room suite at the top of the house amongst the trees, featuring one small double and three single beds. The lounge stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter with a flueless gas fire, piano and super fast broadband, BT Youview TV and library of novels to cosy up on the couch with. Our ground floor bathroom features a lovely big bathtub and rain shower, as well as brand new washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen features a stunning hand carved farmhouse table with benches and other seating for 8-10 people. The electric dual oven features a 5 ring gas hob and there is a brand new dishwasher, toaster, and microwave. Our reception area has tea and coffee making facilities and filtered water dispenser. The kitchen opens onto the patio where there is more seating for dining al fresco under the cover or a large cantilever parasol. The private walled garden features a covered wooden deck, perfect for yoga as well as providing an alternative location for dining in the warmer months.
During the autumn and winter months The Tallow Factory makes a wonderful place to stay, just steps away from a michelin guide gastro pub, The Sun Inn, which is next door. There is also a well-stocked grocery store open daily from 7am-10pm, butchers, cafe, tearooms and the Marlborough, Dedham Mill, The Boatyard and National Trust Flatford Mill all within walking distance.
