Riad Al-Qurtubi

Common areas (lobby, rooftop) were immaculate and beautiful. Staff was extremely friendly and super helpful. Room was average size, bed was comfortable, appreciate that we could log into our Netflix account on the TV after a full day exploring the city. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was incredible. Location is very good (the rooftop has crystal clear views of the Strait of Gibraltar and Spain in the background) but just note that it is still a 10 minute hike down a very steep street to get to the medina -- going down is fine, but going back up by foot requires real stamina, especially multiple days in a row.

The only issue was the smell of sewage whenever you would enter the room. We tried everything -- closing the bathroom door, closing the toilet lid, but no matter what, it would still reek every time we came in. Not sure if our brains just got used to it, but I stopped noticing it 5-10 minutes after we would come into the room, but the shock of the smell never went away.

Beautiful property in a great location

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We arrived later than anticipated and they stayed up waiting for us. We were only in Morocco for 24 hours and would’ve stayed longer at this heavenly property. The rooms were stunning, staff was accommodating and amazing. Breakfast was delicious and we had lunch as well which was perfection. As our stay was short we were checked out but allowed to “camp out” on the rooftop for the afternoon while awaiting our flight back to Portugal.
