Riverbank Cottage

Good location: close to the beach and the main street. Property was spotless - very clean! Bed was nice and comfy. Kitchen was well stocked with an oil spray, salt/pepper, pans e.t.c, and appliances were easy to use. Appreciated the picnic blanket and first aid kit that was supplied. Overall, a lovely accommodation!

Few issues with the accommodation itself: - Top floor windows look out directly onto a pub's beer garden, from which customers could see me in the window. Also noisy (did not affect me, but may affect others). - Shower not the best, switching to high pressure resulted in scalding hot water that could not be turned down. The shower grate cover was not secured at all, and kept moving about whilst showering (possible trip hazard). - Button on the oven was loose. I would have given a higher score, however, there was one major issue with my stay. Riverbank cottage is attached to Riverbank house, which was being worked on by workmen. I woke up to find that I could not exit my property, as the workmen's vans were parked in such a way that there was no space to get past (they later moved them). At 10am, they began drilling into the living room outer wall; the noise was so loud that it could be heard throughout the entire building, this continued for an hour. I headed upstairs to find a man on a ladder outside the kitchen window, with a full view of the entire kitchen/living room area - I was too short to reach the blinds to pull them down. The following day, the workmen put a ladder outside the window of the bedroom I was staying in. The lower part is frosted, but the top is clear, and the workman on the ladder had a perfect view inside my bedroom. It was 8am in the morning - thankfully I was already dressed. The workmen were there from 8 - 5, throughout which they were working just outside the bathroom windows. These windows are stained glass, but often they would lean against the wall, and I could make out their faces - this made going to the bathroom quite uncomfortable as there were no blinds to cover them. As a result of all of this, I could not relax in the property as well as I could have, and often felt like I had no privacy - as a young woman on her own, this was not ideal at all. I would have appreciated being informed of the work prior to my stay.
