My Little Home - Le Vieux Lille de St Etienne

Appartement très bien situé dans le centre ville. Plutôt calme. Très bien équipé. Propriétaire très prévenant : à notre arrivée, il y avait un ventilateur qui tournait ( appréciable en cette semaine de canicule !)

Seul petit bémol : un ou deux petits fauteuils seraient un vrai plus en termes de confort.

It’s very central but quiet and comfortable

The windows definitely need mosquito nets. I have been bitten more than 30 times also in my face. The bites have infected very badly. It’s obvious that the owners know about this because they have put an insect repellent spray there. Those mosquitoes will not be killed by such sprays. I couldn’t sleep at all because of this.

Perfectly located and it had everything you needed and the bed was really comfy. You are no more than a 2 minute walk from the Grand Place and only another couple from the Metro at Rihour which was great. If you need to get to Lille Flanders or Lille Europe and you have mobility issues, in a hurry or just don't fancy the walk in the heat like us then hop on the Metro here at Rihour and you will be at either in minutes. There is a local mini supermarket (Carrefour) a few minutes round the corner which has everything you need. The bars are fabulous and there are several craft beer pubs minutes from the flat. The best cake shop in Lille at the end of the street virtually just a stones throw away from the flat was a delight.

The only issue on a personal level was the stairs, 3 sets of steep steps, but I knew that we were unlikely to find anything in the old town that was not the same. We did have to ask for a second set of keys as there are 2 doors you have to go through and this meant we both had to leave at the same time as you need the key fob to get through the second door going either way). When we asked Laurent he was very happy to supply us with a second set which was great as it meant my other half could go out early and I could meet up with him later. Just note that they just about both fit back in the key safe when we left. I have read other bad reviews about mosquitos at this property which is unfair. Yes we got bitten, but then so did everyone else in our group (there were 10 of us) and we were all staying at different places across the city.

L'appartement est en plein centre-ville, mais donnant sur une cour intérieure il est parfaitement calme. Il est de plus très bien amménagé. La kitchenette était très fonctionnelle et la literie confortable. Les hôtes ont été très réactifs pour répondre aux questions

Il n'y avait pas de véritable table ou bureau, ce qui peut être ennuyant si l'on a besoin de travailler. La porte de la salle de bain est vitrée et laisse entrer la lumière du jour le matin dans la pièce principale, ce qui peut être gênant si vous êtes sensible à la lumière quand vous dormez
