Chez-Marie Vue fantastique entre lac et montagne I Luzern

First, the view from the beautiful large windows and expansive terrace are absolutely amazing! The apartment is very big and clean and modern and super well equipped. The location is so beautiful and in the most quaint little Swiss town.

The noise from the very busy highway that is directly behind/above the property really kills the serene beauty of the landscape and the reason for coming to the mountains for an escape. Although you can’t hear much of it inside (which is surprising), if you’re like me and book places with outdoor space in mind I would think twice. The noise never stops. Ever. You cannot hear anything but constant traffic on the raised highway. Not the birds, waves, boats, nothing. I get it is unavoidable but what a shame and should really be mentioned in the listing. Second the communication with the owner was horrible. She never replied to any of my booking messages or WhatsApp messages. Not before or during our stay. Luckily it’s self-check in and I was receiving messages with the code to check in etc, just absolutely no reply to any of my messages. The listing also claims to have a washing machine. There isn’t one. This could be a lost in translation thing but it was very disappointing because we planned our packing around doing laundry here as the listing suggests and are out of clean clothes. Again I messaged the owner about this prior but she never replied so I took the listing as being true. I assume now it means dish washer?

Amazing view over the lake. House is very luxurious and well kept. All appliances and kitchenware etc were very high standard. On backside of the house is the highway. It os visible but we did not feel disturbed by noise or smell. Inside the house it is not visible or heard at all. Overall not an issue at all. The terrace was nice and cool and we had breakfast lunch and dinner there all worked well. Incredible sunset over the lake.

There is no air conditioning. When we were there late June the temperature was ok inside. When weather gets warmer the inside temperature might get very warm. However the walls seem thick so it might be ok. The answers from the host were not very quick and did not answer all the questions. They answered most important questions though.

Amazing views from the windows. There is both a covered terrace (so rain is not a problem) and an open terrace. Everything you might need for your stay is provided — pots, pans, cups, wine glasses, even salt, spices, and oil! Very clean, and everything feels new. 2 bathrooms. There is also an elevator!

Unfortunately, we were unable to contact the host. We sent messages through Booking, WhatsApp, and also called the phone number provided, but received no response during our entire 2-day stay. We actually wanted to extend our stay for one more night, but since we couldn’t reach anyone, we had to leave. Booking only allowed extending the reservation for two nights, not just one. We also could not find the baby crib at first (we asked about it, but again received no reply), and later discovered that it was stored inside the wardrobe.
