Comfort in the Jungle

This is a great place! Private place with a remote gated fence, about a 10 minute easy drive to Samara. Nice pool, open stocked kitchen, two large bedrooms, updated main bath - everything was perfect for our family of four.

Overall we had a good stay. The house is about 10 minutes from downtown, which made getting around easy, and the gated entrance added a sense of security. The pool was great to cool off in after being out during the day, and we appreciated having access to a washer and dryer.A few things future guests may want to know. The home could benefit from some updates, and it would be helpful if the host provided a binder with house information. For example, guidance about not flushing toilet paper and instructions for the air conditioning would make things clearer.The house does not come stocked with extra supplies, so plan to purchasing basics things like hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry detergent, and trash bags. Also note the washer and dryer cannot run at the same time or the power may trip.You will definitely hear the local wildlife in the mornings, roosters, monkeys, cicadas, and the occasional dog barking, which is part of the local environment.Two of the three beds are very firm, so keep that in mind if you prefer a softer mattress.We chose this property mainly because it was close to family, which worked well for our trip.

Very enjoyable and relaxing

We stayed at this house with a private pool and had a mixed experience overall. On the positive side, the house was spacious, nicely laid out, and the pool was great. We also really appreciated the flexibility, as we were able to arrive one day earlier on very short notice. The neighbors/caretakers next door were incredibly kind and helpful – always quick to assist and even bringing us fresh mangoes, which was such a lovely gesture. However, the cleanliness could have been better, and the biggest issue for us was the ants. We understand that ants can generally be a common issue in accommodations in Costa Rica, but during our one-month trip, we never experienced it to this extent. There were already ants in the house when we arrived, and despite being extremely careful (only eating outside, cleaning immediately, keeping trash away, and even buying spray and traps), they were everywhere throughout our stay. Overall, a nice place in terms of space and pool, with very kind and helpful people, but due to the cleanliness and significant ant problem, we would rate it around 3 out of 5 stars.
