A small, cosy property in an idilic setting, clean and comfortable, well worth a visit.

The location amazing, quiet and peaceful. Short trip to nearest towns etc. A few local pubs with great locals. A bath which is a big plus for us 😊

Not a didn’t like but could do with: -a few more utensils eg wooden spoons, vegetable peeler, smaller knives for chopping, large serving spoons etc -large bowls for mixing, oven trays, washing up bowl, dustpan and brush. -black out blinds for the bedroom -some form of lighting for the steps outside, as tricky to navigate in the dark -a shower attachment for rinsing hair These would have made our stay a little better but would not stop a return visit.

A charming stay with a wonderful and understanding host.

The location was a little tricky to find, but the host was very communicative and waited outside so I could find the place. I was delayed by a few hours but he was perfectly understanding. The view was spectacular and the house was spotless.

The stairs can be a little tricky if you aren't being careful, but otherwise fine.

Lovely little place with everything you need.

We were only there for a night so it was perfectly fine. I think a couple of things would have been more of a problem if we'd been there for longer such as the sofa being a bit old and uncomfortable.

We loved the quiet , picturesque location. Spotlessly clean throughout. Great to see some original features in this 18h century house. A perfect house for a couple for a couple of days. Great host and communication.

Lovely place to be

Beautiful location up on the hillside in Darley Dale, wonderful views across the dale, a nice old stone built property, perfect for solo travellers or couples, shops, pubs restaurants all within walking distance as well as an old steam railway in the bottom of the valley. Nice private garden with a bench to sit out on.

I was just there for a one night 'retreat'. Would have wanted a few extra comforts if staying longer

Superb location with beautiful views. 17th century cottage Pretty little suntrap of a garden to sit in at front. Nice pieces of antique furniture. Milk in fridge.

No shower. Slight musty smell downstairs. Proper woodburner would have been nice instead of electric imitation. No pictures or decorative features on walls. A little extra like some locally made biscuits or cake would have been a welcoming treat.

Great rural location close to all facilities and town of Matlock and the surrounding Peak District

Excellent location and views. Surprisingly spacious for one bed house . Owner very friendly and helpful and very tolerant of our breaking a mug and accidentally taking their umbrella. We will return it

Nothing that we didn’t like but would have preferred a shower rather than bath . The stairs to the bedroom are steep so you do need to take care especially if you are tall

Cosy cottage base for Derbyshire Dales Adventure

Cosy, clean and well-maintained cottage with good access to nearby attractions. Grateful to find somewhere as a base for our long weekend away where we could bring our dog with us ^_^

Took a little adjustment to get used to the half step in / out of the bathroom, but can't be helped with the age of the property

Lovely little cottage for a weekend break

Lovely little cottage with fabulous views and everything you needed.

The over use of air fresheners. The smell was over powering and gave us both headaches. On looking, we found four brand new neutrodol deodorisers in the lounge, two in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. We ended up removing them, putting them outside and leaving the door and windows open to disperse the smell.

Super cosy home away from home

I really enjoyed staying in this comfortable, well kept accommodation! The owner was very friendly upon arrival and unobtrusive during my stay. I stayed with my pet hedgehog Strawberry and he really enjoyed it too!! :) It's in a very peaceful location with fantastic views that I loved waking up to. I felt very at home. A few mod-cons would have made it even more like a home away from home, such as a small iron, a tray for food, dust pan and brush, and maybe a mini hand-held hoover. No shower, but no problem (for me) - a shower is convenient of course, but staying here encourages you to lean into the "slow living" lifestyle. The house was my base for travelling to Mam Tor and Castleton for a very long hike, so I enjoyed soaking in the bath in the evening. Parking is down the street (on-street) away from the house and although a bit of a walk, it felt safe. It was a bit chilly for August with all the rain, but there's a little electric fireplace you can plug in which made the evenings very cosy indeed! All in all, I and my hedgehog had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back again! :) Thank you!

Staircase up to the bedroom is pretty steep, and a bit slippy! I got used to holding onto the bathroom and the window sill when I was going down to make sure I had sure footing. Not a negative really, as I said, I got used to it.

Totally excellent!

The location was superb, as was the accommodation - newly restored, furnished with beautiful antiques, magnificent views, peaceful, relaxing and the garden was a wonderful sun-trap. The proprietor was extremely kind and accommodating. The whole experience was fantastic. The area is stunning and you are spoilt for choice for woodland, river and moor walks.

The location was great so peaceful great views. Woods close by for dog walking. Loved door handle to bedroom. Owner was very helpful.

The parking is a short distance from property could be a problem for some people and stairs are deep towards the top.
