Oyado Kyoto Shinmachi

We got a family room, plenty space and very comfortable. There is a tatame area with table and chair (floor table and chairs), small fridge and huge bath area. The location is great, many restaurants and easy to walk around.

According to the book guide inside the room, they supposed to take the garbage out but nobody came. We stayed for 4 days so it would be great to have it cleaned. It was not a big issue though. The air con is a bit noise and it takes quite a while to cool the room (probably because of the size of the place). Besides that, was a perfect stay. We would book again next time!

I was a little apprehensive about self check-in but it went smoothly. Had a small issue with the door as the alarm kept sounding. It was very clean and the bathroom was amazing! The futon area was lovely and traditional, but it then meant we had to make up our own beds. Good location.

Prefer to have a front of house, so that towels can be changed and someone to ask questions if you have them rather than sending a message. It would be really handy to have a washing machine in the microwave area for visitors, we found a good laundrette near-by but having a machine on site would have been easier.

air con was not switched on when we arrived and the apartment was very hot. It took a few hours for it to cool.

Lots to mention here unfortunately. the room is large but a lot of space is wasted in a long corridor. the balcony is filthy and is unused and unusable, it overlooks the local gravel sports field. the gravel field was used most nights under floodnights we were there for firemen practice until 9pm or sports. the room ventilation was poor, and the air con unit shines a torch out of it and rattles at 40+db if you need to cool it. the bed mattresses were uncomfortable and lumpy cheap coil spring mattresses and there was a large range of led lights in the bedroom, some flashing, that made sleeping even less possible this was all at odds with other reviews, so we were quite surprised. the microwave to heat food is located in the fire escape stairwell. we stayed in room 201. I could go on unfortunately. We do not recommend.
