VILLA GIOTTO Florence

The most beautiful villa, in the most perfect setting…. My words will not be able to do it justice but I shall try Lorenzo is the perfect host, was available if we needed anything and checked in on us during our stay. The villa, itself, is a 400 year old masterpiece framed by timeless Tuscany and had absolutely everything we could have needed. Secluded enough for total peace and relaxation but only a 12 minute drive to a large supermarket and 20 minutes from Florence 😍 Outdoor cooking & dining area (I bbq’d 3 times during our stay), a pizza oven and a family kitchen area. Loads of very comfortable seating for around the pool or lazing on at night. A very well maintained pool and garden. Overall, one of the most amazing properties I’ve ever stayed in.

Beautiful villa and the pool was amazing. The views from the pool were amazing. We did a BBQ each night and used this as a base between attending a wedding. Lorenzo was thorough with his tour of the house and facilities and made himself available for any questions. We hired a car and we were upgraded to a small SUV. The driveway is narrow with bricks/concrete on either side and the car only just fit. Not a negative but something to be mindful of. Each room had an air conditioning unit however the main living spaces didn't. If you kept all windows closed it wasn't too bad but we still struggled to sleep when it had been 39 degrees during the day. Siesta's by the pool was made easy with loungers and parasols.

The plug sockets are older and didn't fit out euro adapters. There were some already in the accommodation but luckily someone brought a power board from the UK which we mostly used. This isn't about the property but something to think about. Although there are taxi companies and an app, they wouldn't accept our bookings because we were outside of Florence. Lorenzo kindly booked one for us. We then had to ask the wedding planners to book the others. Even with the strongest bug spray we were all eaten alive during the evenings outside. You may want to take a citronella candle or two.

The house was lovely. It was very spacious and full of character. The host, Lorenzo, was very helpful and accommodating.

There was a sewerage smell from one of the upstairs bathrooms which permeating through some of the rooms upstairs at times. Bleach alleviated the problem for a short while. Also, we were not aware at the time of booking that both Lorenzo and his mother (mother’s house was attached to our villa) would be in such close proximity to the villa. Whilst they are lovely, it did not seem particularly private.
