The location was great with a beautiful walk up the path that's practically outside the front door. It is a 10 minute drive to nearest shop, no problem for us, and 20 minutes to a town for our preferred pub for food and chippy etc. The couple who own the majority of the land and the lodge itself were really nice, very helpful. The upstairs area was very comfy, clean and warm. The bathroom was nice too, and beds comfy. The lodge overall was decorated nicely and had a modern feel while keeping its rustic charm and parking was great too. Fresh towels left for us with some shampoo and enough tea, coffee and sachets of milk.
It's a stone cottage, with bedrooms downstairs so naturally colder, but the heating had been off when we arrived, it was very cold downstairs the first night waiting for the place to warm up (which took ages), and generally the bedrooms are going to be colder, to the point of it being a bit uncomfortable. The bedrooms have old doors leading outside which obviously let in a draft but could have done with a draft curtain (as they have done upstairs) and the twin bed room was a little grubby by the door. There wasn't much in the way of amenities with only a little toilet roll and nowhere in the bathroom to store any toiletries. No lamps in bedrooms, and nowhere to store clothes in the twin room either. We still enjoyed our stay but for the price - these little things would have justified it. My honest review was that it's advertised and charged as a more "up-market" lodge and in some cases it is, but falls short of the mark in other areas and not quite meeting our expectations.

Stayed in the Lodge, perfect setting, lovely building with plenty of space, great hosts. Well positioned for the region. You can walk around the area easily or cycle.
The internet is fine, but does have pregnant pauses quite regularly.

It was self catering, so you need to bring your own food. It didn’t have a kettle it was a hot water tap but didn’t work very well. The bath was nice but not all of us could have a bath as ran out of hot water.
Outside property was a very high drop down into a court yard , this wasn’t fenced off. I think it needed a fence for safety reason especially with small children

Wow is all we can say about this cosy little cottage tucked away from it all. We managed to catch photos of the view after the rainfall the night before and what a view it is! We can see how the owners have totally fallen in love with the surroundings and have the vision of bringing the rest of this grade II listed property back to life but with all the modern cons you could need. We loved the open beams, the deep Victorian bath and the linen which made our experience a peaceful one, one that was much needed for our little family. So thank you Peter for welcoming us with fresh towels on the beds.
Nothing.
