About this apartment rental
Start your morning with breakfast on the private terrace, watch the storks, and let your mind wander. Welcome to the Seehütte on Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. Our Seehütte is a stilt house situated right on the lake. Surrounded by reeds, endless tranquility, and the prospect of “escaping” from everyday life.
The Accommodation
The thatched Seehütte is located directly on Lake Neusiedl in Rust and features a private dock, a sun deck, and an overwater dining table with a sunshade and comfortable cushions. The lake cabin’s sun deck is shaped like an A-frame tent, measures approximately 38 m², and stands on a wooden platform covering about 100 m² directly in the water. It is what’s known as a stilt house. In total, the cabin can accommodate up to 4 people, though space is limited due to the tent-like shape. However, life mostly takes place outdoors anyway.
The thatched stilt house features a separate, ground-level bedroom with a double bed. The other two double beds (slatted frames with mattresses—due to space constraints, there are no full beds with legs and headboards) are romantically situated directly under the cabin’s roof and are accessible via a ladder. The beds are therefore not recommended for people with limited mobility or small children.
A small kitchen with a stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and a Nespresso machine is available. A toilet and bathroom with a sink are located inside the cabin. For showering, we have—in true glamping style—an outdoor shower where you can shower in the open air. You can find more detailed information about the amenities and additional photos on our website.
Please note that the shower—as well as the cabin’s overall space—is designed to evoke the feel of a sailing or camping vacation, and space inside the cabin is quite limited. Anyone who books a vacation like this is consciously choosing a minimalist and simple experience—not a luxury vacation.
By the way, we’ve sourced the furnishings for the lakeside cabin from all over the world. Old teak benches from Bali, a beautiful chest from India, and a wonderful dining table that we found in a wine cellar in Burgenland and restored ourselves.
The lakeside cabin is accessible on foot via a few steps and then a wooden walkway through the reed beds. A public beach, a sailing school, and the boat rental in Rust are about 200 meters from the cabin.
The Seehütte is fully equipped with mosquito screens. You can swim right in front of the Seehütte. However, Lake Neusiedl isn’t very deep anywhere.
The cabin is located in the middle of a nature reserve and is surrounded by reeds. Lake Neusiedl and Rust’s Old Town are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means that UNESCO recognizes the Lake Neusiedl cultural landscape as having “outstanding universal value.”
Additional Important Information
Due to weather conditions, reservations for the Seehütte are not possible from approximately late October through mid-April!
