The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Very comfortable bed, spotless ( if not a little ‘tired’ ) room and full bathroom.
Food in the restaurant at night very good. My husband chose from the English menu, I chose from the Asian menu. Both dishes very nice. Good choices for breakfast and plenty of food.
Operating the TV in the bedroom was ridiculously complicated. The Sky box positioned under the dressing table needed the remote control to be pointed under the table directly to the box, pointing the control to the TV didn’t work. So changing channel needs a physical movement , ie get off, or out of the bed, to operate TV
I would have really liked a fresh banana at breakfast to have with my porridge but these are not provided.

a great location for Blenheim Palace and Oxford, Sturdy castle was excellent value, a fantastic find. It's a small country Inn, 3 miles outside of Woodstock but it has a bus stop right outside the inn, so getting into Oxford is a breeze. Only half an hour into the centre of Oxford, with buses running hourly. The Inn itself has a fantastic restaurant and we really enjoyed the Indian food on the menu. If visiting Blenheim there is free parking in Woodstock from where you can walk into the Blenheim Park. The bedrooms are comfortable with a bath and powerful shower. So, all in all, hghly recommended.
The only downside was that there weren't any comfortable armchairs to sit in at the bar/lounge. It is very much set up as a restaurant. After a day of walking/sightseeing, this would have been very welcome. But I wouldn't let that put you off, otherwise excellent value for money accommodation.

Very helpful, lovely breakfast , easy to find
Up stairs , metal stars case outside , with decking down as a path way , was very slippy especially with the frost - when booking ask for a downstairs room

Location was great beautiful building food was good.
Rooms very dated huge gaping under door which left a draft. Management attitude was awful and staffing levels inadequate for amount of guests.

We were welcomed by extremely friendly staff. We ate dinner twice in the restaurant both meals were freshly prepared and well cooked with a selection from a comprehensive menu of traditional "pub cuisine" and Indian food. The breakfasts were equally good with the cooked food freshly prepared to order. Overall it was a very comfortable stay in a very relaxed atmosphere
Nothing really

The place was very inviting and friendly with a large free car park. The rooms were a decent size with a good shower but the bed for my wife and I was very uncomfortable with bad pillows. The restaurant was very good with lovely food and fair prices.
Easy access in and out of the pub.
We were in the lower floor and the noise from the room above was to noisy but that could have been deliberate . We were not comfortable with the pillow choice and bed.The heating in the room was not working.

Well situated, and despite being set back on a busy road, within 5 mins of Woodstock/Blenheim, is quite quiet. The majority of rooms are in a modern two storey, courtyard complex behind the inn. Ample parking, a little pot-holy. Generous rooms, large shower. Serves bar food and a indian restaurant. Presentation wise, it's a nicely maintained and presented hotel/restaurant with seemingly a lot of land under utilised With such a space I was surprised to not see that fully explored, with outside dining etc. The space to me seemed like it is positioned to be a hugely popular family carvery pub or event venue.
We booked the stay due to its close proximity to Blenheim and other areas of interest for us. As we had event tickets that evening we wanted to eat promptly but were the told that the kitchen didn't reopen until 5:30pm. Ordinarily a reasonable time, but it meant we had to make quick alternate plans in a busy area that we hadn't scoped out. I can't remember seeing anywhere that they stopped serving bar food, and almost sure it said, 'all day dining.' You will need to pre-order breakfast the night before, which is okay, just a little odd. I think this is often done for efficiency, and maybe they don't have a big kitchen staff, but it's so uncommon now it slightly annoying if you're having to think what you'd like the day before. Bar staff are spread between Reception. It wasn't busy but the responsiveness in check-in wasn't the best. No warm welcome, not rude, just business-like, and that works in the Board Room, not necessarily the Hospitality trade. Rooms are clean and quiet, if a little on the colder side but we didn't want to mess with the radiators being only one night. It's a decent place, but it's such a competitive industry now where you can get so much more. I wouldn't stay for more than a day or two because it's really not the place you can sit back and relax in.

The breakfast was very nice, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are fairly dated, especially the bathrooms. The room I stayed in had a very uneven floor in the bathroom (spongy in places) which was all a bit odd, so it felt like it may give way! The toilet was also coming away from the wall in some areas. The room was clean though. I also had to plug a stray cable in to get the TV working. However as I say the people and the breakfast was very nice.

The staff were gentle and polite and very helpful.
The room was quiet being away from the road and well appointed with 2 chairs.
The breakfast’s where lovely, and there was a good choice for evening meals.
The was a couple of cask ales available which was really nice.
Parking was easy.
