Like most of the Cotswolds, The Old School is a very pretty house in a beautiful location. Our immediate impressions were "wow". The room was superbly decorated, and being on the ground floor it was great to have French doors open to the garden, although I do wish we'd visited in the summer so we could make the most of it. We even had a fridge, which was great because we like fresh milk to make a flask of coffee for when we're out walking.
The divan bed was super comfy and the bedding had a quality feel to it. We both slept really well.
The bathroom was separate from the main room, which we always prefer and that was also beautifully decorated.
Jenny provided a bottle of her homemade [flavoured] gin, and that was a nice touch, and very welcome as a winter warmer.
Finally, very friendly Labradors, which is my favourite type of dog. We'd definitely visit again.
I'm going to have to be pretty picky here but I feel the need to be objective.
I'd say the shower was adequate rather than superb, but as Jenny explained, they don't have the best plumbing where they live.
Parking was a little tight, but you get used to it.
If you're a light sleeper like me you should bear in mind that there may be guests in the room above so there may be the occasional floor creak.
The following observation is not a criticism of the accommodation, but results from our experience: Whilst it was wonderful being so remote in the country, you need to make allowances for getting places, plus factoring in taxi costs if you go out for the night.

The breakfast was superb - Jenny was very receptive to our request for a little less food😊
The only issue we had was that at no point during booking were we made aware that one of the bedrooms had a private bathroom which was not only NOT en-suite but on a different floor. This made one of the couples (an octogenarian and septuagenarian) very anxious when having to consider night time bathroom visits. It would be extremely helpful if this was made absolutely clear at time of booking.

Jenny and John were just wonderful hosts. Breakfast is highly recommended :-) location is very quiet and close to several beautiful towns; train to Oxford is also very close and takes only 25 minutes. Room is spacious and so peaceful! All in all a great stay. Thanks again to Jenny and John!

Location was great, lovely village/Hamlet with interesting Church next door. Breakfast was delvered to your room, lots of choice.
The only very very very slight downside, is that our bathroom was not onsuite. It was down stairs. but apart from that, the stay was great and wouldn't stop us from returning again.

Brilliant idyllic self contained B & B accommodation in a very peaceful village location. John and Jenny, our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful. Their tips for eating establishments was great and the directions to avoid the ‘bottlenecks’ was invaluable. Short drive to many of the popular Cotswold towns made it an ideal location. The view from our balcony windows over the well-kept gardens was a brilliant backdrop to our breakfast (an additional option). The breakfast was huge and a great selection of breads, fresh fruit, pastries and tea. Well worth the money do try. We will certainly be back soon.
Nothing to find fault with, excellent all round accommodation.

Beautiful property that was well maintained, with access to a lovely garden and comfortable bed.
The hosts were very friendly, providing recommendations for places to visit and restaurants etc, they also topped up the condiments and gave the room a spruce up whilst we were out, which was a nice touch.
The main niggle for us was the walls were paper thin. Another couple were in the room above during our 2 night stay and we could hear their tv and every conversation until 1am in the morning. But otherwise very happy with the stay.

Upon arrival John was very friendly and helpful with tips of towns to visit - all of which paid off! The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and in a perfect location in the middle of Cotswolds. Everywhere was so easy to get to with our hire car. Idbury is a small, quiet village, perfect after a big day of discovering !
Jenny served us delicious breakfasts with plenty of yummy food and made sure we had everything we needed. Lovely people to stay with. Thanks Jenny and John for your hospitality.

Comfy room, beautiful garden to sit and read in. Peaceful location away from the crowds but close to everything. Lovely breakfast prepared by a lovely host who even took care of dietary needs.
Bed slightly to soft, but that's just a personal preference.

Excellent property that was clean, spacious and overlooked a garden for use by residents. Area was quite very little traffic noise. Owners of property were helpful and friendly. Recommend purchase of excellent breakfast which in good weather can be taken in the garden. Beds comfortable. Would recommend the Old School for long or short stay.

Absolutely everything - A real gem in the heart of the Cotswolds, centrally located for wherever you want to go.
Beautiful room, spotlessly clean, very tastefully decorated with the patio area right outside the French doors leading on to the fantastic garden, a real plus - Simply one of the nicest places we have ever had the pleasure of staying at.
We also enjoyed the heartwarming company of the two best behaved dogs that you could ever wish to meet along with our hosts who were wonderful and there if ever you needed them- If you want to really spoil yourself, look no further.

A wonderful property, ideally located and with friendly hosts. We particularly enjoyed our Sunday breakfast sat in the beautiful peaceful garden. Would strongly recommend a meal at the King's Head at Bledington and a gentle walk between Upper and Lower Slaughter.

The owners are exceptionally nice people and very helpful. Their concern for our comfort was very kind as I was ill one day of the stay. I wish I had felt better and could have fully enjoyed my stay there.
The bathroom being on a different floor is difficult for those with disabilities.

Beautiful large bedroom overlooking the garden. Extremely comfortable bed and good quality linen. The breakfast was excellent and the host laid it out on a table on linen in the garden so that we could enjoy it in the sunshine- bliss with birds singing and the sound of sheep in a nearby field.
We really relaxed and truly felt rested after our stay here.
Very nice hosts who have created a special place for all to enjoy.

The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the garden. The bookable breakfast was great; lots of fresh produce and with delicious coffee. We were able to have breakfast 2x in the garden which was great. The owners were extremely friendly. The location was ideal; wonderfully quiet.... You woke up to the twittering of the birds. The B&B is within driving distance of several pubs and or cycling distance a star worthy restaurant.
The only downside to our room was that the bathroom was not en-suite (Superior King Room). The toilet and shower were downstairs, the room itself was on the second floor. In particular that there was a chance (although not very big), that you could bump into the other guests in the hall of the B&B, we found a bit objectionable.
In the room itself it was not equally convenient to have breakfast; you had to either sit on the bed or on the couch to have breakfast.
Particularly due to the lack of the en-suite bathroom, we did find the price-quality ratio a bit skewed.

Property owners gave marvelous attention to every detail. We felt very well cared for and lacked nothing. It was quiet and out-of-the-way, yet a short drive (or a very beautiful walk!) from idyllic Cotswold towns. We ourselves walked here from Stow on the Wold and walked out to Bourton on the Water—beautiful hikes. We definitely recommend staying here.
