Breakfast and dinner service were fantastic. The hotel staff were so accommodating and welcoming. I especially appreciated that they held our luggage in advance of our reservation time and took it up to our room. They also brought it down to us when I needed to grab my mobile charger. It allowed us to completely explore Arashiyama and enjoy the luxury of a Ryokan stay.
The pricing of the private onsen which was mandatory for me (having tattoos) was a tad high for the time I wished to soak. Though I’d say the experience was well worth the money, especially if I had someone to share it with. That said, they might better provide a notice that tattoos aren’t allowed without a private bath purchase.

Fab place, just over the bridge. Nice views. Very helpful staff. Nice food and presentation. Lovely to wear kimono for meals. Staff had beds made after our meals.

The staff was great and location was good.
There was some miscommunication regarding our booking, as we were under the impression that meals were included in the room rate. Overall, we found the property to be quite dated and showing signs of wear. While the staff was pleasant, the food did not meet our expectations and was one of the more disappointing aspects of our stay.
