A practical stay - does the job
+ Location is quite good and central. Close to the train and bus station (5 minute walk) and the city centre (20 mins). There are trams around the corner which is also rather convenient to the centre and the Univesity.
+ Communication was always quick and effective.
+ It is a competitive price despite teh issues, especially if booking last minute.
- Key collection is a bit awkward — the box is hanging from a random window about 200m from the apartment. There may be good reasons it’s not closer, but in the pouring rain, it feels counter-intuitive.
- The apartment is on the third floor with stairs only — not ideal, but manageable.
- While the flat wasn’t dirty overall, some kitchen items (like an oven tray in a cupboard) were left unclean. Cleaning tools (hoover, brooms, etc.) were piled in a corner of the living room rather than stored away, and the hoover hadn’t been emptied or cleaned in ages.
- Likely due to the building’s age, there seem to be pipe issues — a worsening smell and an increasing number of small drain flies over the week suggest the pipes need regular maintenance.
- The bathroom has no windows and would benefit from proper ventilation or extraction.
- The main bedroom mattress was very soft and uncomfortable. The other room was fine but had no windows.
- Some disposable toothbrushes were provided, which was a kind but unnecessary gesture — most people bring their own. More useful would have been more than a single toilet roll for a week’s stay.
- There was washing-up liquid but no sponges — while not everything can be supplied, a few basic essentials would be expected.
- Communication and instructions were only in French. While I managed, bilingual information would be more inclusive, especially for key collection and return.
- Finally, the tone of communication felt overly stern. We were repeatedly warned about the £90 fine for not returning keys properly. Despite having returned them and double-checking, I received multiple calls and a message saying we hadn’t — followed by a curt “OK, thanks” when I confirmed we had. No apology or acknowledgment of the mistake, which felt unfair and impersonal.

J’ai bien passé un bon séjour, l’appartement elle est très bien très propre, il a centre-ville, il y a un restaurant à côté, il y a la poste à côté vraiment c’est un très bon Appartement j’ai passé un bon séjour c’était tout propre
Le Mans elle est très heureuse elle est bien à trouver, il est Propriétaire et est gentil il est toujours présent vraiment, j’ai passé un bon séjour. À bientôt merci. Bonne journée

Les coussins de mauvaise qualité. Une chambre aveugle et une cloison de séparation fine sans isolation- insonorisation. La place face à l’appartement est mal fréquentée.( drogue…)
