The Grasmere Hotel

The breakfast was fine, pretty standard.

Very disappointing that the bar in the lounge was not open in the night time. It was very limited times

Everything. The staff were great, parking was really easy, the room was excellent and it was a quiet hotel.

Beautiful old house in the heart of Grasmere. Lovely lounge area and garden for relaxing after a days exploration. Staff very attentive and helpful.

I stayed in a single room which was an adequate size wise. However, mattress and bed base were mismatched, the mattress being far smaller than the base itself. Shower was also pretty small with very little pressure. Not a big issue for me, but would be for some.

The location was perfect as it was just outside the centre of grasmere and there was plenty of parking for residents when we arrived. Our first room was very comfortable, especially the bed and we were extremely happy until we tried to have a shower and had no hot water. The breakfast options were also really good. The staff were really polite and helpful, doing their best to help, especially with the water situation, but it was disappointing we didn’t get to speak to a manager when we checked out, especially after what had happened.

There was no hot water in the suite we paid for (Beatrix) so we had to be moved to a smaller room (Dorothy) which wasn’t anywhere near the same standard. The new room, although prepped, hadn’t been fully cleaned as there were cobwebs all over the ceiling. The plug hole in the shower was also very dirty and blocked and there was mould in the corner of the shower. We were put on the bottom floor, next door to the kitchen and next door to the managers office which was very loud during service until just past 11pm. I understand this move couldn’t be helped in the circumstances but it affected our stay as we booked a much nicer room for a birthday treat.
