The Grasmere Hotel

Location in Grasmere central to everything in the village with easy access to the surrounding fells Rooms very comfortable each with their own character Staff very friendly and attentive to guests needs The breakfast service was excellent quality

The temperature was very warm in the hotel but fresh air with window fully opened controlled overall temperature more than adequately, the sound of the river at the rear was very soothing

Hotel was in great location to the village. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order plenty of choice of cereal juice etc. The bus stop is near the hotel going to Bowness or Keswick you don't need to use the car. On checkout you can still leave the car in the car park whilst you enjoy the village or a walk. Would definitely recommend this hotel

Very nice quiet room and the food was exceptional, staff very accommodating

The location was perfect as it was just outside the centre of grasmere and there was plenty of parking for residents when we arrived. Our first room was very comfortable, especially the bed and we were extremely happy until we tried to have a shower and had no hot water. The breakfast options were also really good. The staff were really polite and helpful, doing their best to help, especially with the water situation, but it was disappointing we didn’t get to speak to a manager when we checked out, especially after what had happened.

There was no hot water in the suite we paid for (Beatrix) so we had to be moved to a smaller room (Dorothy) which wasn’t anywhere near the same standard. The new room, although prepped, hadn’t been fully cleaned as there were cobwebs all over the ceiling. The plug hole in the shower was also very dirty and blocked and there was mould in the corner of the shower. We were put on the bottom floor, next door to the kitchen and next door to the managers office which was very loud during service until just past 11pm. I understand this move couldn’t be helped in the circumstances but it affected our stay as we booked a much nicer room for a birthday treat.
