Oceanfront Condo Stunning Views and Pool - Hale Kona Kai 407 by Casago Kona

This is a great location if you want to stay in old Kailua-Kona. It is next door to the Royal Kona. Great parking situation, right below building. Great view of the ocean as the building is right on a lava bluff. The ocean access is kinda tricky and would not recommend unless you are a very strong swimmer with fins and ok climbing up/down on sharp lava rock. The central AC doesn't work and they have a portable AC for the bedroom, which is probably fine because of the air flow from the ocean if your windows are open.

Some people won't like the AC setup especially since the window apparatus is not totally closed meaning that bugs can theoretically enter via the window. The clothes washer/dryer are in the hallways and open to the outside with significant rust.

We loved the location—within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping opportunities. The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything one could wish for. While there was no laundry in the apartment itself, there was a shared laundry room (quarters needed). The on-site staff were very nice and helpful. The pool area was wonderful, but my favorite part was the balcony overlooking the ocean. We saw spinner dolphins and sea turtles while sitting there, and the sound of the waves crashing onto shore was the perfect white noise machine. I haven’t slept that well in a long time! We would come back in a heartbeat.

Everything about Hale Kona Kai was amazing! From the spacious condo to the beautiful view to the small details the staff places in the room. Upon entering there was music playing, fans and full size complimentary treats to enjoy. The place also comes fully stocked and I mean they have everything you could possibly want or need. They even had ice pre made for us. The staff are friendly and very communicative, we had a small glitch when booking and they were very understanding and responsive. It is walkable but also not in the center of town so it's a nice quiet and peaceful spot. We loved the balcony and layout of the room and enjoyed the well-maintained pool. We only stayed two night but could of definitely seen ourselves staying here longer!

The surrounding area isn't the nicest but that's not their fault. It is next to a resort that is being partially renovated. Some of the exterior portions of the property are a bit rusted/out-dated but again not even close to being a deal breaker!

Just property needs some work, understandable with being next to ocean.
