The location was stunning and all required facilities were readily available and up to a high standard
One small issue with the grill in the oven which was addressed by the owner within the same day that it was reported (so no real issue to be honest!)

Great house, lovely location.
A cash deposit €150 was required and we had to drive to a different location to find the person to whom this was payable. This was not mentioned in the ad. Electricity and gas are charged for separately - this was not made clear in the advertising either. Check in time is 1600 and departure is 1000 so it is a short stay if booking for a weekend. There are a lot of signs in the house warning about additional charges if rules are broken. We received too many emails after the booking was confirmed, most of them unnecessary. We were also asked if our party of 4 was 'couples sharing beds' - this could have been worded better - also it should not have been too much to ask for 3 bedrooms to be made up as we were renting a 3 bed house. The charge deducted from our deposit for electricity was €6.72. We paid €716 for less than 48 hours accommodation.

Lovely house in a beautiful, but isolated, location overlooking Mulroy Bay.
This house is actually booked through Booking, then Sykes Cottages, and then you'll hear from the owner too so it's very confusing what terms you've actually agreed. Once booked, I got mails with new terms and conditions, including asking for a 150 Euro deposit and we had to pay for heating and electricity. So, be careful when you book because it's not made clear the 'free' WiFi and facilities 'incur a charge' for electricity, I also had to go to Cranford, a 30KM round-trip out of Downings, to pay the deposit, because the 'house manager' couldn't meet on site, and as I'm in N Ireland (UK) and the home owner is in Ireland (EU) it would've been another £25 just for my bank to transfer the money. Even though I pointed out I had not seen anything about going to Cranford in the information provided, I was told I had to pay before arrival or we wouldn't get the keys. You can go from Letterkenny to Downings via Cranford, but it's a back road, and when I said I was going to Creeslough first, and asked to meet at the house, I was told this couldn't be done. I couldn't change arrival time either. When we arrived, the welcome pack was just several pages of rules, saying we would 'incur a charge' if we used the beach towels, but didn't wash and dry them, we had to clean the toilets, vacuum and bring the bins up to the main road, around 500m from the house, while also taking glass to a local bottle bank or we would 'incur a charge'. We couldn't even light the fire without having to 'incur a charge' for the firewood! We were lucky we got a week of unusual heat while we were there, and we would've made sure the place was as we found it when we left, but to pay as much as we did for a week in October, only to be met with additional rules, charges and a 30KM trip at my expense, just left a bitter taste with us.
