Elan Hotel Lake Nojiri

Breakfast was good with varied choices. The staff and management were all friendly and accomodating.

野尻湖のほとりに位置し、どこか懐かしさを感じる温かみのある施設でした。 朝食のバイキングは種類も豊富で、とても美味しく大満足です。 お部屋は畳で落ち着いた雰囲気があり、ゆったりと過ごすことができました。 また、近くで免許不要のボートを貸し出しているお店についても丁寧に調べてくださり、スタッフの皆さまの親切さがとても印象的でした。 おかげさまで、ヘリコプター型のペダルボートに乗り、野尻湖の中央にある島まで行くことができ、島内の神社にも参拝することができました。 忘れられない素敵な思い出になりました。本当にありがとうございました！

Room suite interior was clean, newish and in good shape. Foam mattress on beds very comfortable. Western staff friendly and accommodating. There are onsens in basement for each gender, clean, a bit small (about 2-3m square). Good buffet western breakfast (fruit, cereal, eggs, veggies, sausages, bacon, toast) it seems to be the same menu each day, and no Japanese style options. ski storage / drying area is easily accessible.

Note some of these comments are specific to the winter. 2F hallway smelled of exhaust at times (perhaps from the portable kerosene heaters that seemed to be constantly running to heat the ground floor lobby and hall area), the smell even seeped into our suite, only blocked from the bedroom by the sliding door. In our suite, the shower room with sink and toilet room were both very cold and not easy to heat up, though bedroom itself could heat fine. ‘Mountain view’ is basically no view at all, hillside is right up against the building so you can’t see much of anything. Room is quite tight - there is enough space for luggage in the closet, and a small table at the foot of the beds but felt crowded overall (low ceilings don’t help). Onsen not open early morning, so can’t use before going out skiing for those early risers. A bit of a drive to anything, and it seems not many restaurants nearby are open evenings in the winter.

The breakfast was a stunner, the Sento bath was relaxing, the vibe and ambience were fun and tranquil. Above all, Chris and the staff went absolutely out of their way with kindness and joy to look after all the guests, and make our stay perfect. Vicky and I were treated like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble, and I can’t honestly think of one problem or issue. Chris is an extremely generous, thoughtful and engaging host. Also, Elan picks you up from the railway station, and as well takes you to each of the ski fields as you request -this is completely above and beyond any expectation we have ever had of any hotel we’ve stayed in. Stay for a week - you won’t want to leave!

Nothing. Honestly, this place exceeded our expectations in every criterion, going well beyond what is expected. They even very kindly took me to a distant hospital when I needed medical treatment. Well done and HUGE kudos to Chris and the team!
