Jongno olive hotel

The location of this hotel is superb! There were a few train and bus stations nearby, within a few minutes walk. The room we had was smaller than I expected and was a bit dark. It didn’t feel to clean inside the room but I guess it was still relatively okay. There’s an elevator so no problem if you’re bringing a big luggage. I wouldn’t recommend this if you are very particular with lighting and cleanliness.

This is our go to hotel in korea whenever we are in a budget. Big rooms and they even have desktop inside each rooms.

Good location, bus service straight to airport along the way

We picked Hotel Olive mostly based on its location, price, and from photos on the site. After some research, we proceeded to book a four-night stay. I genuinely looked forward to thr stay and wasn't expecting to have to submit such a scathing review. Communication with the hotel before arrival was spotty and with each day of our stay, incidents became frequent and worse. The odor in the room became increasingly worse with each day, with most days having a faint but constant sewage odor. On the last night after arriving back around midnight, the odor was worse upon opening the door, making it difficult to breathe. We informed the hotel staff about the unbearable odor in the room. We were told nothing could be done and we could just check out. We insisted to speak with a manager; however we were told there was no manager available and he would arrive at 5 am. We were told the manager would be the one to deal with "rude customers". As the odor didn't dissipate, we had no choice but to check out past midnight and find another hotel at such a late hour. The hotel staff claimed he did not smell anything when he entered the room and could not do anything about the issue. He kept insisting he would not do anything for us, he wouldn't try to find any solution. The next day, we contacted the manager who rudely dismissed the issue after raising his voice to argue and hung up the phone abruptly. He angrily said to complain to Agoda, but when we tried, the customer service line in Korea was not able to connect us to a representative. The live chat option informed us to contact the hotel directly. Aside from the odor, we also encountered other issues. As two people registered in one room, we expected to be provided at least two bath towels, but on most days were only provided one unless we requested for an additional one. On the third day, we again received one bath towel, and upon requesting were informed the hotel had none to provide. Additionally, on our third night after the room was cleaned, we found the used bath mat left on top of our bed. Since it was on top of the bed runner, we just removed it. On a side note, the room we booked on the top floor of the hotel did not have any closet to put oir clothes in, just two hooks on the wall near the bed. I would not recommend this hotel to others, especially if they expect to have a comfortable stay in Seoul.
