I wasn’t told that the contents of the mini bar, which were soft drinks, were complementary. It would have been nice to know as a nice touch.

Its location in the city

Our room was extremely far away from the reception. Lift to F3, walk past Snug Bar then two flights of stairs down to F1 to the level of our room. I had no idea the lift at our end was out of use. I’m recovering from a health issue, so not ideal.

Some of the decor in the hotel needs refreshed, torn wallpaper, chipped tables in the restaurant. Shower door in the room would not close properly so water leaked out onto bathroom floor

Location, big rooms well maintained. Staff were excellent and very helpful.

Difficult to locate rooms as they are spread along various long corridors over 3 floors. Lift didn"t go to every floor. Stairs would be difficult for some people.

On the whole a brilliant weekend.

Only complaint was the full cooked breakfast was as dry as can be. Beans needed. I hate smoked bacon but no option for unsmoked.

Location

Long walk to room, up and down stairs. Terrible breakfast, thankfully was included because £30 for that was insanity. Low quality ingredients, poorly cooked. Not a great deal of options on the continental breakfast. Staff didn’t seem too bothered. Tried to slap on a service charge on checkout for doing very little. Room was sweltering and windows don’t open. Someone was drilling very close to our room at 9am. Couldn’t find that I’d already paid when I arrived. Nobody asked how our stay was. Not a five star. Would expect better from even a budget hotel, especially given we had an upgraded room which was still so far away.

Perfect in every way

From the first moment of being welcomed in to the hotel, being offered a glass of wine on check in and being shown our room and a walk of the hotel. All the staff was extremely friendly and seemed to really want to have a conversation with you. The room was gorgeous and the view was fantastic we will be back

Top class, quiet hotel, in a superb and city central location.

The staff were exceptional, very professional, efficient and caring. Thank you. The quiet bar on the 3rd floor is tremendous and the open pit fire was very welcoming indeed. We had bedrooms on 3rd floor, with patio doors opening out onto the one acre roof top garden. Fantastic! This hotel is exceptional in all ways (I cannot click on the ratings above, but is exceptional for everything.

Perfect stay for our anniversary

My wife and I had a lovely stay for our 13th wedding anniversary, our suite was lovely and all the staff from reception to waitresses to cleaners were very friendly and helpful, our stay was just perfect. Thank you

Lovely hotel, great location for our theatre visit. Beautiful garden access room with upgrade thanks to fabulous check in staff. Beautiful breakfast cooked to order and served in comfortable surroundings.

Stayed over after a visit to The Playhouse, the hotel is literally next door. Very comfortable, lovely room and a great bed!

Breakfast service was the only disappointment, the food was great but was questionably slow to arrive , tea took ages to arrive too and had to be chased.

Everything was perfect from arriving to a very warm welcome and a prosecco to the upgraded room and the gorgeous bar with flame fire.

Staff were very nice and helpful

Very noisy function directly behind our room the room we were allocated should only be given to the party goers as it was impossible to get any sleep before midnight when the party had finished. It could have been avoided by asking it we were attending at check in, this actually spoiled the trip as we were shattered the next day the manager offered us a room move which was accepted but packing up your luggage after being in bed for approximately 30 minutes and moving rooms was not the best experience and the new room was cold but quieter.

It was really central, we had a room onto the garden so views of Colton Hill were amazing, there was also a lovely touch acknowledging my husbands birthday

Dinner menu in bar was poor and service at breakfast was appalling, orders were forgotten as well as setting the table when we were shown to an empty table

Overall, an excellent hotel ideally positioned for a short city break to Edinburgh.

The Glasshouse Hotel provides excellent, high quality, Edinburgh city centre location accommodation. From our arrival until departure we were made very welcome, nothing was too difficult and our every need was accommodated for. Concierge David B and Issac were a font of knowledge and provided valuable insight to inform our short break. Equally, all the receptionist staff throughout our visit.

The breakfast was very good providing a wide, quality menu to meet all tastes. However, despite the staff working very hard and remaining friendly and professional at all times, other than the first day of our 4 day stay there was insufficient staff available to maintain the quality and standard provided in every other aspect of this excellent hotel. The management team need to address this as a priority. This constructive comment should not detract from what otherwise was an excellent experience.

Amazing. Edinburgh has a bit of everything and the locals are extremely nice.

Staff are extremely nice and absolutely nothing to complain. Just amazing. Location is very ideal. We spent a week there and travelled to all the Edinburghg highlights by walk. Only used the Tram when coming from the airport which stops literally a 100m away from hotel entrance.

Only reason I did not give facilities a 5 star is due to the fact that twice in the morning it happened we did not have hot water. 1st day I thought it was a fault but than I started to realise that most probbably the systeam at 700hrs is a bit overwhelmed with everyone showering at the same time.

Honestly, the hotel didn’t feel like a true 5-star property as it lacked the right atmosphere. My room had a strong kitchen smell, even after I raised the issue with the staff. Additionally, the breakfast options were quite limited for Muslim guests
