Nine The Boathouse

I honestly can’t recommend Nine the Boathouse highly enough. I came away looking for somewhere peaceful where I could have a few days of respite from my caring job and completely switch off and recharge — and I genuinely feel like I found a little haven. The accommodation was absolutely spotless, beautifully presented and had everything I needed. But what really made it special was just how peaceful and calm it was. Sitting beside the river, watching the boats and the world go by, yet still being so close to beautiful Rye, was just perfect. And then there was my unexpected little visitor! Every morning a seal popped his head up in the water right outside. I’m a keen photographer, so being able to sit there with my camera and photograph him was such a lovely bonus and something I’ll always remember from this trip. Laura was a wonderful host and you can tell how much care has gone into making this a really special place to stay. I arrived hoping for a quiet few days away and left feeling completely recharged. Thank you for the lovely bottle of wine that greeted me on arrival too. Superb from start to finish. An easy 10/10. I’ve already recommended it to friends and I will absolutely be back. ❤️

Lovely terrace on the riverside, to relax and watch avocets and oystercatchers. Quiet. Very comfortable bed. Efficient heating. Well equipped with plates, mugs, glasses. The sofa was comfortable. An easy (if steep) walk into town.

The apartment was difficult to find with a rough approach road and the parking bay numbers worn away. The apartment was in need of a thorough clean, including the sealant in the shower. There was only one tiny kitchen cloth, no washing up brush, no safety anti-slip shower mat. It would be helpful to provide instructions on how to load the dishwasher. And a folding stool to help short people reach the kitchen shelves!

Poor storage - vintage bedroom small wardrobe and dressing table not suitable for all our stuff - only 3 coat hangers. We probably wouldn't have booked if we had seen photo of this furniture. We had to move hoover and household items from wardrobe and nowhere to store our bags. A pair of proper scissors in kitchen would be useful. Location is 12 min walk from Rye centre but walking back in dark was not ideal.
